MYSTICAL POWER IN BIBLE PERSPECTIVE:

What is behind this mystical power?

Not all occultic activity is as a result of evil spirit.

The name of devil means a slanderer, Satan is always draw an attraction to his victims just like what he did to Jesus by showing him the whole world and ask him to bow down before him. Behind mystical powers Satan is there including the falling angels (demons).

The devil is the opponent or adversary to the kingdom of God.
He has people who helps him carry on with his deception Eph.1:12. 1 Peter 3:22.

Satan’s kingdom is highly organized. The activities of Satan includes Temptation, Opposition, Slandering , Possess.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil Heb.2:14. 1 John 3:8; 1 Cor.3:8.
Behind occult practices are demons. Behind divination are demons.

Behind magic are demons.

The Bible condemned it, why God was against it is because here man is enthroned and God is dethroned.

Also in all these activities faith is placed above occultism. Ex.7:11,22;8:2,18-19.II Tim.38.

In Babylon there are magicians, and God proved his power there e.g., Dan.1:20;2:2,4:7,9:5-11; Rev.9:1-2 2 These.2:9-12, Rev.13:13-18.

The bible recognizes mystical power, but these powers are of Satan.
Demonic activities is witchcraft and sorcery. All forms of witchcraft & sorcery are forbidding in the bible because of their association with demons. It is in form of idolatry Mica.4:12.

The reason bible condemned mystical power is that it seems to push God aside and man then sit in the position of God. And behind every mystical power is Satan, who opposes God.

Therefore, mystical powers opposes the power of God. Deut. 18:9-14; Magic and divination is an abomination. Ex.22:18; what is the biblical perspective of witchcraft? Lev.19:26-31; and sorcery? God forbids it. Gal.5:20. Isaiah. Witchcraft & sorcery are forbidding in the bible because it is associated with demons and it is spiritual idolatry.

Witchcraft is a rebellion to the will of God. Who are the specialist? They are the people who claims that they have power, they intend to deceive people. Acts.13, is where Bar-jesus was deceiving the deputing. For any Christian to indulge in all these he is commuting spiritual adultery because he had already married to Jesus in salvation.

DIVINITIES IN AFRICA: (DIVINE BEINGS)

This divinities were below God, but above the ancestral spirit (which is the living death).

The word divinity can mean god to the Africans.

• There are some African countries that do not worship divinities but others do.

According to Prof. Idowu, he described divine spirit as domesticated being, because they are guiding the family who worship them. He also said that they have the power to create. The Yorubas tittle of the supreme being as Olorun (owner of the sky) or Oludmare (immovable rock that never die). Orisa nla is God’s deputy through whom he create all thing, according to the Yorubas.

There are 1700 divinities in Yoruba land. Orisa nla is responsible for causing hunchback, cripples and albinos (unfortunate Europeans) anything white is attributed or Orisa-nla, and it represented purity, the only sacrifice to Orisa nla is snail.

Another divinities the Yoruba worship is called Oduduwa.
There is a man who ruled them earlier at Tiefe and when he died they still accorded him respect because of his prominence during his life time, he is regarded as the creator and call him Oduduwa.

Orunmila, His wisdom supersedes that of Orisanla, because he saw when God (Olorun) was creating things.

The divinities were ministers to Olorun. Orunmila is worship as universal king in the Yoruba land.

Another divinity is Shango ( the god of thunder) he is regard as the main principal god.

Companion of Shango is called Oya. She dwells in river Niger, and is wicked spirit, She is a female god.

Another divinities is Onsha Oko, farm godless, Shapona one of the 4 principal deities among the Yoruba. They ban people of worshiping this Shapona, because she is a wicked spirit.

Notice: before contacting Olorun you must pass through these divinities.

There are many reasons that can cause hunchback, cripple etc. the biblican perspective of the worship of supreme being. Has God created this supreme in order to act on his behalf? The answer is no.

African Traditional Religion is never monotheistic. But it is more of polytheism animistic.

Prof. Idowu disagreed that the Yorubas are worshiping many gods, rather he said that the supreme beings are ministering to Olodumare.
