Parents and families
So they are no longer foreigners or upstarts, but fellow citizens of the saints, and members of the family of God. Ephesians 2.19
God's design of this world for its growth involves parents and families as axes of care and formation of people. The challenge would be to be able as a church to provide these axes for the spiritual life of the people and thus each new Christian would have the same opportunities that God gave us the day we were born to grow surrounded by love, containment and direction.
What do God believe to care for people?
In the first place, God created the figure of the Fathers and in a broader sense the figure of the Family.
We have here two elements that we must incorporate into the life of the church.
The function of the Fathers is to teach their children during development and to maturity, so that we can adequately relate this function of parenting to the task of discipleship.
Just as a Father teaches his son to eat, talk, walk, give, etc. The spiritual Father will teach his spiritual son to feed on the word of God, to pray, to obey and to testify.
In second place we have the function of the family as a natural and healthy space for the growth of every human being.
Just as a family should provide their children with care, dialogue, intimacy, values, participation, responsibility and personal contact, the church should provide a similar place where Christians receive all these elements. This is where cells occupy a transcendental place in the world. life of the church because they provide precisely this essential space so that each Christian can develop towards maturity.
If God created these two functions to care for people today we should incorporate them as basic care for those who enter the church in order to see them integrated, growing and maturing spiritually.
Prayer: Lord, help me to sink the responsibility to care for others spiritually as a father or mother would. Show me what person I should take care of.
