There are skilled people who like to repair things that break down. However, sometimes they insist on trying for hours, but without success. Finally they must turn to experts in the field.
Our situation in the moral plane is analogous. We try to repair, but our efforts are useless, and we often fall for the same things. As for taking away our guilt, we are totally unable to do so. We are easily convinced that sin is not so terrible, and that we can eliminate it with "patches": by coating the oxide with a layer of paint, everything shines again as before!
That mistake! The solution is to go directly to the expert, to turn to our Creator. Who better than he knows our life and his most intimate secrets? "The Lord ... will also clarify the hidden things of darkness, and will manifest the intentions of the hearts" (1 Corinthians 4: 5). And who, if not he, can repair everything?
God himself invites us to turn to him: "Look to me, and be saved" (Isaiah 45:22). He offers us, through faith in Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of our sins and a new life.
Let's not try to repair our soul. If we go to Jesus bluntly, we will avoid many sorrows and disappointments. Let us go therefore to Him who said: "Come now ... and let us be mindful: if your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; if they are red like crimson, they will come to be like white wool "(Isaiah 1:18).
Excellent @mosdad, our beloved savior is our primordial and essential expert to restore and heal our life, therefore we must go directly to Him.
