1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

What is Amazing Paul is speaking of incredible things. He is speaking of the followers of Christ working miracles, having a gift of faith or healings. Prophecy, discerning of spirits and divers kinds of tongues. People empowered by the Spirit of God to do extraordinary things.

1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

He goes into the offices and titles people carry.
1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Then he follows that we should seek after the better gifts, but then says there is a more excellent way.

The Best of All and the More Excellent Way. THE WAY OF LOVE.

About 6 years ago I was a guest speaker for 8 meetings in a church in New York City. It was a week long set of meetings. I ministered twice on Sunday, then every evening during the week including Saturday. It was an amazing week! Our weekly meetings started at 7 PM and would last until 1 or 2 in the morning. For all of the services people almost never sat down as the expectancy was very high. God’s Presence was amazing! People were getting healed and demons were coming out without anyone commanding them. People were walking off of the street and going right to the altar surrendering to Christ Jesus. Even hardened criminals and gang members were coming in and their calloused hearts softened by the Lord.

One night there was a guy there with a prophetic gift.

This guy began to speak prophetically. But there was something wrong. No Love!

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity (LOVE),I am nothing

After about 10 minutes of him speaking I stopped him! I was a guest there, but this guy was out of line. I found out later he was in the habit of doing this in this church. I stopped him! I really cannot take credit, because it was the Spirit of the Lord Who is my Helper.
I said, “Sir you are out of line! You have problems in your home that you need to resolve! Justice without mercy will be given to him who has no mercy.”

This guy was ex CIA, very muscular. He immediately fell on his face in tears. He told me about his marital problems and repented before God.

Luk 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Luk 6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

I see so many claiming to be Apostles or Prophets. Seems today everyone wants a title. But you know what I always look for? LOVE!

Love! Without Love we are Nothing.

Now abideth these three things. Faith, Hope and Love and the Greatest of these things is LOVE.
