The Sermon on the Mount is one of the best (if not the best) teachings that ever existed, the simple act of seeing Our King opening his mouth to speak these words makes it perfect.
But what do the Beatitudes mean? What was it that our Lord Jesus Christ wanted to tell us by calling us "Blessed"? They are blessings that the Lord promises to give, but as long as we live according to His Word. The beatitudes are the principles or values of the kingdom of God; It is the spirit of the gospel. Every bliss is a trait of the character of Christ and a mark of his work in the life of his disciples, it is not superfluous to indicate that none of these characteristics can be obtained by merit, they are rather the reward for submission and obedience to God .
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. In the world we seek what is necessary to avoid pain and tears, while Jesus says that in order to enter the Kingdom of heaven it is necessary to shed many tears.
What is it that squeezes the heart to the point of crying that is able to capture His attention? First of all it is necessary to see sin in the same way as God sees it, sin is rebellion against his Authority, it is misery, it is dissatisfaction, it is impiety and it is also pain; It is what He sees every day in corrupt hearts. Those who through the Holy Spirit understand what sin does in the world, and in their lives - bring them to eternal suffering - feel that fear and pain, to the point of breaking completely, and that is the crying is inevitable when we are in front of the holiness of God and we discover that we are not good, that we do not deserve anything, and yet the Lord paid the price of our redemption out of love.
