The Power Of Identity

God does not look directly at us, He sees us through our mediator Jesus Christ. So, friends, see yourself in Christ Jesus cause Christ is your identity! The understanding of who you are is the beginning of triumph in your Christian adventure and making a mark on the earth. Every new creation is a citizen of heaven dwelling in earthly places. If you do not possess a heavenly citizen mentality, you will suffer earthly problems. So, you should never see yourself in the light of your present circumstance or experience, rather see yourself in the light of what God says about you.

There are three things that Jesus came to do for us:

• He came to reveal God and His Love to us:
  Jesus came to show us that God is love; He demonstrated this love nature and commanded us to do same. All his actions portrayed love and that is why He says to love is the greatest commandment of all.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

• He came to destroy the works of the devil.
  Regardless of the number of satanic activities such as sin, poverty, death, captivity, diseases etc, Jesus has destroyed them.

...for this purpose, the Son of God was manisfested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. - 1 John 3:8b

• He came to Restore us to our Kingly Status.
  Many Christians know, teach and have composed so much on the first; but a good number, are yet to fully appreciate the last two. It is obvious that Adam lost glory, honour, abundance, blessing, power, riches, affluence in the garden of Eden because of sin. But the good news is that Jesus has washed our sins away. He did not just do this; He also restored all that was lost through Adam. We are only expected to look like our master Jesus and nothing less than that.

If someone should describe today, the model for such description should be drawn from the characteristics of Jesus Christ. Whatever that cannot be found in Jesus cannot be in you and whatever that is in Jesus should be in you cause He is your identity.

This message of identity - who you are in Christ, is full of God's Spirit when you get the understanding. Always carry this identity wherever you go and you will naturally exude the nature of God and attract the honour due a child of God. This identity remains a reality as long as you are conscious of who you are.
