Again the devil took Jesus up on an exceedingly high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give you if You will fall down and worship me (Matthew 4: 8 -9)

Satan bargains for people's worship with the things that this world has to offer us. But sad to say, many people, old and young, men and women, of all races and nations have fallen for his bargain. The God of this world, Lucifer, promises to offer people the whole world in exchange for their worship- and this includes position of power in exchange for their worship, riches in exchange for their worship, fame (glory) of this world in exchange for their worship, the pleasures of this world in exchange for their soul. These seem harmless on the surface, so we think. But the question is, why is he interested in your worship? And why does he stands ready to bargain for it? The truth is, behind your worship is your soul, your very life and salvation.
Jesus explained to His generation, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? What will a man give in exchange for his life? (Matth 16: 26). The Lord in effect is saying to us, "What good will it do a person to gain the whole world - what it offers us - riches, power, fame, pleasure - just for a momentarily enjoyment on earth, if he forfeits his soul to destruction, if he or she perish eternally?
Two case study will help us to appreciate Jesus's view of things.

• Amnon, the first born son of king David walked in that path (2 Sam 13: 1 -32). Because of sexual escapism, he forfeited his life and the kingship to death. We are told he entertained a sexual feelings towards Tamar, his half sister. Got an advice from his bosom buddy and cousin, to fein sick, and made a request for Tamar to come and make food for him. And when she brought the food to him, he didn't eat it, but rather he raped her. And after two years, the paying time came, and Absalom, Tamar's brother brutally killed him. The price for his life, his soul was a temporary sexual escapism! Who said Jesus wasn't right in His counsel to us?
  The second case is a man we can all recognize, Judas Iscariot. He betrayed his Master and Lord for the riches of this world. For an amount of thirty pieces of silver, or if you like, thirty dollars, he bargained his soul, life, faith and apostolic ministry. What a heavy and deadly exchange! All this happened to him because he bowed down and worship the God of Mammon or Money. Is Jesus's exhortation timely for us?
  How much is your life worth? How much do you value eternal salvation of your soul?

To the God Most High, you are worth the holy blood of His eternal Son. Your soul is worth His divine love! But to Lucifer and his demons, you are worth death, destruction and eternal damnation. But he camouflages that with cars, houses, money, job, power to bewitch others and to dominate them, fame, clothes, pleasures and the rest. But behind these is your total destruction. If you doubt it, ask Judas or Amnon!
My counsel to you this that, don't bow down in worship, no matter what, to Satan and his demons thinking it's harmless. So beware and be wise, for your soul is of a great value to your Creator
So as you go through the year and live life, remember the price of exchange, and the bargain of Satan for your soul. May the Lord help you not to bow in worship to the God of this world, no matter what he offers you in Jesus name. Amen
