FOR YOU, WHAT IS THE CROSS?

For the people who received the law from God, the Cross was the well-deserved punishment of a prophet from Bethlehem. He lost his reason and made himself known to them as the Christ of God, the one from whom it had been said that he would free them from every yoke. But they did not recognize him.

For the empire that ruled at that time the Cross was what deserved a tumult that along with a group of fishermen, tax collectors and prostitutes claimed that there was a kingdom much greater than what their eyes saw.

For the custodians of the temple the Cross was the consequence of a carpenter losing his reason and proclaiming himself the anointed of God. For other religious of the time, the Cross was the just payment for the one who healed and freed the demonized on the Sabbath.

For everyone who is still under the control of the enemy, the Cross is senseless madness. Or something that hangs on your neck or in your cars how good luck.

But ... there are others for whom the Cross has been everything.

The Cross meant paradise for the thief who died with Jesus. It was the longed for rest for a wasted life, it was the greatest reward that nobody could pay, but only his crucifixion companion. For that soldier who pierced the body of Jesus the Cross was the sign that that man was indeed the Son of God. For the one who cries hopelessly in a room only on the verge of taking his life, the Cross became his only salvation. For the one whose pain pierced his soul the Cross was the only balsam that could restore him. For the one who had lost all sanity the Cross paid the price to heal him. For the one who was tormented without rest, the Cross was the only one with enough power to liberate him. For the one who was a toy of the enemy the Cross gave him power so that today the enemy is under his feet.

For everyone who was dead, the Cross was the only thing that gave eternal life back to him.
