Spiritual growth is necessary.
Little by little, we study the Word and pray. All of this allows us to have a much closer relationship with God, and in this way, we also gain much more strength to face the obstacles that arise in life.
Therefore, just as you have received Jesus Christ as Lord, so live in him.
Colossians 2:6
I remember the story a photographer told near a tree near the beach. It was an ordinary tree, and after a huge hurricane had swept away most of the land, the tree remained firm and wounded, but from a distance, stakes or stilts were visible, holding it up. This photographer got much closer and saw that what was holding it up were simply its roots. The hurricane swept away all the sand beneath the tree, exposing its roots. This gave evidence that the tree was kept standing by its large roots, which had spread out for years. This teaches us a lesson: it's not the time that matters, nor the number of years we belong to the church, or how many years we call ourselves Christians. Strong roots are built as we strengthen our relationship with the Lord through growth in the Word of God and relationships with other brothers and sisters in the faith. This allows us to have strong and firm roots.
This gives us a very clear idea of how we can be strong, similar to this tree with the ability to withstand all the difficulties that come our way in life. Our job is to fix our gaze on Jesus Christ, remain in His word, meditating constantly, and without a doubt, our roots will grow and spread, similar to the roots of a tree in the sand. Even when the winds blow, the sea water whips and carries away some of the sand, even when the roots are exposed, nothing and no one can move us when our faith is firmly placed in Jesus Christ. We have the choice to remain firm in the faith or to stray into our daily worries. We have this opportunity to experience the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ even when we are afraid.
22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, "Let's go across to the other side of the lake." And they set out. 23 But as they were sailing, he fell asleep. And a stormy wind arose on the lake, and they were flooded and in danger. 24 And they came to him and woke him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" When he awoke, he rebuked the wind and the waves; and they ceased, and there was calm. 25 And he said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were terrified and marveled, saying to one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the waters, and they obey him?"
