The lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5: 5)

5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Christ presents himself as a mediator between God and the two ministers and the people. He is called the Lion, but appears as an immolated Lamb. He appears with the marks of his sufferings, to show that he pleads for us in heaven, by virtue of his satisfaction. He appears as a Lamb, who had seven horns and seven eyes; perfect power to execute all the will of God, and perfect wisdom to understand it, and to do it in the most effective way. The Father placed the book of his eternal counsels in the hand of Christ, and Christ took it quickly and with pleasure in his hand; because he delights in making known the will of his Father; and the Holy Spirit is given by him to reveal the truth and of God.
