The different types of spiritual gifts

in #steemchurch5 years ago

What would the world be like if everyone wanted blue? It would be strange, if all the people were blondes, or if they were all tall. In his wisdom and perfection, God made people different in type, color of skin, constitution of the body and even in tastes and preferences. Such diversity is what gives flavor to life.

Also in the church, our God, wise and perfect, gives his servants different gifts, according to the profile of each one according to each reality: "there are different types of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Lord that we serve. for work, but it is God himself who gives each one the ability to do his work ", I Co 12.4-6.

The gift that is lacking in one exists in the other; Everyone knows how to do different things and likes different activities. Only thus the Body of Christ, of which we are members, is equipped for an integral ministry, being able to attend to the human being in its totality.

Writing to the church in Corinthians, Paul mentions that "no gift is lacking ...", I Corinthians 1.7. This reality is also of the church in our day, God trains all people, who complete themselves to carry out the work.
What we lack, sometimes, is to "awaken the gift", to know it and to develop it.

The Women of the Bible and the Spiritual Gifts.

Despite living in times and cultures in which the woman had no social value, not even was counted or recorded his presence, we found that the Spirit endowed women of the Bible with spiritual gifts that always placed at the service of God and neighbor.
Luke refers to Ana, who received the gift of prophecy; He did not leave the temple, where he served God day and night, as a prophetess. He was given the privilege of contemplating the Messiah, Luke 2.36-38.

There are several women who received and developed the gift of the ministry. Some theologians identify ministry as gifts of support, because they minister to others through their services. The Sunamite served the man of God, the poet Elisha, giving him lodging, 2 Kings 4.9-11; Marta served as a housewife, active and jealous, although worried and anxious, Luke 10.40; Priscilla, together with her husband, received Paul in his house, offering him work and spiritual communion,
Acts 18.2.3; Romans 16.3,4; Phoebe served in the church as a deaconess, Romans 16.1. Luke 8.1-3 lists several women who served Jesus with their goods. Oh! As the world is lacking in people who have joy and willingness to serve Jesus through their neighbor.

Mercy is characteristic of women and is accompanied by another gift, generosity. As biblical examples, we can mention Dorcas, who lived to do good to the poor.

His death was very mourned, because of his goodness, Acts 9.36-39. Lydia was also generous, opening her house for Paul and for preaching the gospel, Acts 16.13-15. Without speaking of the poor widow, who placed everything she possessed as an offer, Luke 21.1-4.
Deborah, Esther, Miriam were leaders. Some women possessed the gift of leadership, the presidency, the administration. Deborah who, in addition to being a prophetess, exercised judgments among the people with courage and authority commanded the battle against Sisera, Judges 4; Esther bravely faced the king, leading the rescue of his people, Esther 4.15; 5.8. Miriam, after the victory of the crossing of the Red Sea, led a platoon of women to praise God with songs and dances of joy, Exodus 15.20,21.

Loide and Eunice developed the gift of teaching. They were the teachers of Timothy in the teaching of the "sacred letters".

The Contemporary Woman and the Spiritual Gifts.

If the women of Biblical times received and developed gifts, how much more we, who were so elevated by Christ, to the point of occupying privileged positions today. With rare exceptions, women today are accepted, accepted and respected. He has recognized his value and his capacity. It's just discovering and developing your gift.
It is good to reinforce the idea that we all have gifts. Some may have several, and play them simultaneously. Others may discover that they have only one gift, which, if placed at the service of God and one's neighbor, will be as useful as those.

Paul mentions other spiritual gifts, such as healing, the operation of miracles, speaking and interpreting languages ... Do they exist in the middle and in our days? Without a doubt, in the moments and in the proper places, always for the exaltation of God and not of man.

Spiritual gifts are a manifestation of the grace of God given by the Holy Spirit. They are fundamental in the growth and development of the Church, the body of Christ.

The gifts are available to all the saints. However, we need to look for them diligently. We must show interest and willingness, because spiritual gifts are not for personal gain.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Romans 12:5-9
