Temperance

Definition:
Temperance is abstaining from those substances and actions which are harmful and using moderately and carefully those things which are good.

Man was created perfect in the image of God, healthy,free from disease. Adam and Eve had natural appetites given by God to enjoy what God had made. God also gave them the power of reason, choice, self-control. They were tempted by Satan to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Being deceived, they used their power of choice wrongly. They lost their self control.., came under the influence of Satan. People have been making wrong choices ever since.
Temperance is evidence of self control.
In Galatians 5:22:25,,
I quote"But the fruit of the spirit is love,joy,peace, longsuffering, gentleness,goodness,faith,meekness,temperature, against such there is no law. And they that are Christ have crucified the flesh with affections and lusts. If we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit..

**# # ***Self control or Temperance, Having control over our Temper's and Emotions.
We need to watch that our tempers don't get out of control. Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad, and a gift destroys the heart. Ecc. 7:7-9.. Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof, and a patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry. God will judge your anger against you.(Matthew 5:22-24), but I say unto you. That whosever is angry with is brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement, and whosoever shall say to his brother Raca,shall be in danger of the council, but whosoever shall say, thou fool, shall be in danger of hellfire. Therefore if thou bring the gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against you... Leave there thy gift before the altar , and go thy was, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. We must use self control in everyday practice controlling emotions . controlling our emotions, by remembering that the bible says we can't trust our emotions.(Satan uses our emotions to get our focus off God.
2.controlling our emotions so that anger doesn't get out control....... In James 1:19-20
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren,let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God..

Conclusion:
But the fruit of the spirit is..............Temperance (self control) ..we believers will be known by our fruit. When a Christian demonstrates a humble attitude of peaceful self control, they are demonstrating their fruit of the spirit. It is not easy to let go and let God, but it does get easier as time goes on. Remember this, the more you use this gifting " temperance, " the more you will have this gifting. It does not get easier and easier the more one surrenders over their life to the lord. The key word here is "Surrender".
