SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURE: (Life account of Abraham; The Father of Faith)
Abraham was from the line of Shem; the first son of Noah (1Chronicle 1 vs 24-27) being the son of Terah (Gen. 11 vs 24)
Terah and Abraham left Ur for Canaan but stopped at Haran where Terah died before God call out Abraham (Gen. 1 vs 31-32)
Abraham was not in his place of birth when God called him but was not in the right place where God want him to be. (Was in Haran which belong to one of his brother).
Abram was Abraham's original name while Sarai was his wife original name. Abram was given a new name that is Abraham when God showed himself to Abram (Gen. 17 vs 3-4) which is the establishment of the covenant that was earlier made with him (Gen. 12 vs 7; Gen. 15 vs 1-21).
All the covenant of God might not be encouraging because God also testified to it that the descendant of Abraham will serve as slaves for nearly four hundred years before they will become prosperous Gen. 15 vs 13-14)
Abraham's Righteousness
- Abraham believed that all things worked for good (Gen. 13 vs 8). He did not choose for himself but asked Lot to choose and he accepted the remnant.
- Abraham rescued Lot who choose the plain land for himself (Gen. 14 vs 8-17)
- Abraham paid his tithe (Gen. 14 vs 18-20)
- Abraham believed the Lord (Gen. 15 vs 6; Romans 4 vs 3; vs 18-24)
- Abraham know that Ishmael was born out of sin but solicit him before God (Gen. 17 vs 17-20)
- Abraham entertained the three visitors (Gen. 18 vs 1-8)
The lord was with Abraham when He tested him before He established the convenant which He has made with him about having Isaac.
Abraham righteousness was high that God did not hide anything from him (Gen. 18 vs 10)
- Abraham solicit Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 18 vs 23-33)
- Abraham sent out Hagar and Ishmael with care (Gen. 21 vs 8-14)
- Abraham showed righteousness through faith (Gen. 22 vs 1-10)
Abraham exercised the strongest faith ever, he accepted to sacrifice his son after sending out Ishmael, therefore having no hope apart from Isaac who was also asked by God to be sacrificed.
Abraham found favour as reward for sin because he was fully blessed by God.

Abraham found favour in a strange land: Hittites (Gen. 23 vs 1-20) - Abraham secured wife for his son ( Gen. 24)
Abraham's name
- Mighty prince (Gen. 23 vs 1-20)
- Servant of God (Gen. 26 vs 24)
- Friend of God (Gen. 18 vs 17; James 2 vs 23)
- Prophet (Gen. 20 vs 7)
- Father of Isreal (Exo. 3 vs 15)
- Father of all believers (Romans 4 vs 11-17)
Abraham is significant to all believers but not all believers knows about him.
