Well I came to know that one of my newest toys was far too expensive since I don't even have the chance to (legally) use it.
As described in my article Hard times for drone pilots there are a lot of restictions regarding droning on Canary Islands.
This is why I finally decided to give away my still brandnew DJI Mavic Pro which I purchased in November 2017 and haven't ever used since then.
Due to the fact that we have a lot of vloggers and travellers on Steem who might appreciate having such a toy among their equipment, I thought it might be a good idea to set up an auction via @steembay.

The deal
As you can see on the following pictures, all items that come with the drone are still in factory packaging.
I purchased this DJI Mavic PRO on the 17th of November 2017 via Amazon.de and paid โฌ1.008,93 for it (= $1,170 USD), including shipment within Europe.
Considering a current Steem price of $0.66 USD, the price would be ~1,772 Steem. Supposing that it may drop a little more during the next 7 days (auction period), I'd like to estimate $0.59 USD / 1 Steem: 1,983 Steem.
However, I'm pretty aware of the fact that even the drone hasn't been used, it's lost some value over time.
That's why I'm going to start the auction at 1,500 Steem (including shipping). C'mon that's a real bargain! :-)

I lost a drone in the sky earlier this year! Was high winds and the little sucker kept on getting blown higher and higher.
Got some tears in my eyes due to high wind, looked down for a sec, looked back up and it was gone ๐ข Lolz.
Luckily it was a lot cheaper than yours... Sucks about drone laws in the Canaries.

I should've studied the law before buying my first class toy, but who would expect it to be that complicated?
Steemfest... hopefully! This year I'll be only able to confirm last minute, since I'll have to manage some bigger life changes at the end of the year. Fingers are crossed for the reunion! ๐ค

The DJI Mavic PRO is an outstanding piece of kit. I think it is best in class. I'm sorry that you can't use it so easily in your locality.
Yeah, I was incredibly happy when holding it in my hands on Christmas.
But it's impossible for me to meet the needed requirements (e.g. traveling to Tenerife and doing a training during several days in order to get the pilot licence).
Now someone else will use and enjoy it :-)
shouldnt u add a start bid in the comments for it to launch? not that im bidding, i already have a lil drone myself. like ikt but yeah aviation rules are sometimes not so nice, but a necessity.
Good point Roeland! According to the Steembay tutorial I need to wait for the bot to reply to my post first. But it doesn't show up :-P

You're totally right: aviation rules are important. However, on Canaries it's extremely complicated and expensive to acquire the required licences. They'd cost me more than the drone itself since I'd need to travel to another island in order to do a specific training.

Well if you could fully monetize the content, doing a training and getting all the papers would absolutely make sense. But I also don't have the time for it right now, since everything is focussed on the new challenge now (I told you :-))...
Is it? I think we have enough areas in the Netherlands to go out for some flying with pretty ok rules. For sure when you compare it to other countries like the Canaries
@surfermarley maybe it gets better for the Canaries by the new EU drone law/regulations ? But by the time those rules do apply there are better drones of course ๐
Oh, new rules? That might change the game. Yet, I'd be surprised if the new rules were less restrictive than the old ones...:-)

I wouldn't dare to use a drone without the required documentation in Spain, since penalties can easily reach 5 digits. So that'd be an expensive flight though...
