Hi @pennsif, just an FYI... I recently started using the iNaturalist web site (see also here), and I wanted to mention it to you.

Not sure if the @steem-atlas dev team is already aware of this site or not, but it seems to me that you could do something very similar on Steem with SteemAtlas, so I wanted to bring it to your attention.

Three main points, in case you want to check it out:

1. Map integration like Steem Atlas for wildlife observations
2. Take a look at the flow that they use for photo validations and selecting "Research Grade" observations - Steem's blockchain rewards could really incentivize a flow like this.
3. I think the photo validation activity would also provide a robust engagement mechanism for SteemAtlas users.

Just thought you might want to explore this as a potential growth path for SteemAtlas.
