I often go through from the eastern side gate climbing thirty five steps leading to it. This gate is also known as the royal entrance since it was reserved for use of Mughal Emperors.

The gates on the northern and southern sides have several steps and each of the two minarets comprises of five stories with a protruding 130 feet high balcony.

There are 130 steps inside each minaret to climb to the top. The mosque is beautifully designed in black and white marble floor, lavish arches, floral designs, and fluorescent motifs adorn the interiors of this mosque.

Today, this centuries-old mosque is one of the top tourist places in Delhi. Jama masjid is considered the largest mosques in the country as it draws visitors and devotees from all parts of the world including the locals.

During the special occasions the mosque witnesses a huge gathering here to offer prayers or namaz. We see there are two minarets inside the mosque, but only one at the southern side is open to the public at a nominal fee. During the evenings, the mosque is illuminated, that makes it even more beautiful.

Although one must be dressed appropriately to enter the mosque but there is no hard and fast rule when the namaz session is not going on but people willing can be hire such clothes at the northern gate. It was the royal mosque of the emperors during Mughal era but currently, the masjid is open to all.

The mosque is one of the architectural beauty built by Shah Jahan. The eastern gate was used by him to access the mosque and the northern gate was meant to be used by the special people including his courtesans and the southern gate used by the common people.

When this mosque was started in 1644 Shahjahan named it initially, Masjid-i-Jahan Numa, but later it was known Jama Masjid of Old Delhi the capital of the Mughal Empire, it took twelve years to complete. Later, it came to be known as Jama Masjid or the Friday Mosque. Now the masjid stands tall right next to another iconic monument built by Shah Jahan, the Red Fort.

Jama Masjid is considered to be one of the largest mosques in India and one of the major religious places in Delhi in the Chandni Chowk area of the old city of Delhi.

You have repeated two of your photos !

I have replaced one of them and deleted the other. Thanks for pointing at this mistake, actually posting in steem atlas is different from posting in Steemit editor. Thanks again.

India is a big country and several leading media outlets have written that it has around 500,000 mosques, the mosque built in the 17th century in this post still looks sturdy, beautiful and has great historical value with the architectural touch of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, even though it has been renamed the Jama' Mosque.

Yes! almost all sacred places for Muslims such as mosques have provisions / calls to dress modestly according to Islamic law. And if they violate it, maybe they don't really understand Islamic law or are immigrants from outside...
