Dairy farming refers to the regular rearing, maintenance and management of milk animals. It is like cows, buffaloes, goats and in some areas sheep to produce quality milk and other food products. It is not just a name of animal husbandry. It is a complete system which includes all aspects like animal health, balanced feed, clean water, comfortable housing, sanitation, timely vaccination and protection from diseases. If all these things are properly taken care of, animals stay healthy and milk production is also improved.

Dairy farming is an important source of income for many families living in rural areas. Many farmers keep dairy animals along with their agricultural activities, which earns them income on a daily basis. Apart from milk, curd, butter, cheese, desi ghee and other milk products are also produced, which can be sold to earn more profit.
