Farm Inspection Day
Farm Inspection After Planting
Inspection of a farm is the revisiting of the farm after planting. This must be done to ensure adequate checking for crops germination. This should be carried out a week or two after planting has been done.
Moreso thinning/supplying are done during the process.
#Thinning in Agriculture is the removal of some plants to allow for better growth of other.(e.g if eight maize seeds were mistakenly planted in one place, it can cause overcrowding and the yield will be very poor. During inspection, four of them can be removed or uprooted leaving four to stand).
#Supplying in Agriculture means the planting of more crops to compensate for the rest that have died in a stand.(e.g if four maize seeds were planted initially, and on inspection you discovered that only one had germinated, you can uproot two or three from the stand you are thinning and supply to this one to make it four pair stand).
Happily on my farm this year, the case was different. Everything germinated as was planted especially on the area of farmland that bush was burnt before planting.
However, there must always be work to be done when you are inspecting a farm.
Having observed that some dangerous grasshoppers have started to attack the crops, I immediately swung into work of hand picking and destroying. What I thought was next visit to the farm I will go with garlic spray.
So on the farm, no stone was left unturned. Yes every suspected insect and it's larvae or pupa were not spared.
All were devoted to destruction so that the crops can have a breath of fresh air.
