Subsistence Farming and Commercial Farming
Introduction
Agriculture is one of the most important activities in the world because it provides us with food and creates jobs for millions of people. As i was learning about farming, i discovered that there are different methods farmers use depending on their goals. Two of the most common are subsistence farming and commercial farming. Although they both involve growing crops and raising animals, they serve different purposes.
What is Subsistence Farming?
Subsistence farming is a type of farming where a farmer produces food mainly for personal and family consumption. The goal is not to make a large profit but to ensure there is enough food for the household. Farmers who practice subsistence farming usually work on small pieces of land and use simple tools.

In my opinion, this type of farming is very important because it helps many rural families survive, especially in places where modern farming equipment is not available.
What is Commercial Farming?
Commercial farming is carried out mainly to earn income. Farmers produce crops or raise livestock in large quantities for sale in markets or to companies. This type of farming often uses tractors, irrigation systems, fertilizers, and other modern technology to increase production.

I believe commercial farming plays a major role in feeding large populations and supporting a country's economy because it creates jobs and increases food production.
Differences Between the Two
The biggest difference is their purpose.
Subsistence farming is done mainly to feed the farmer's family, while commercial farming is done to make a profit.
Another difference is the size of the farm. Subsistence farming is usually small-scale, whereas commercial farming is done on much larger farms with modern equipment.
Conclusion
After learning about these two farming systems, i believe they are both important. Subsistence farming helps families meet their daily food needs, while commercial farming supplies food to markets and contributes to economic growth. I think governments should support both types of farming because they each play an important role in ensuring food security.
