The study of the diseases of the plants scientifically is called as the pathology of the plant. The plant pathology is the investigation of the causes of the diseases, what is the mechanisms behind the diseases, how can they spread and what will be the management of the plant diseases.

The phytopathologist also known as the plant pathologists , they study a wide range of the diseases of the plants which are caused by the different pathogens such as these are fungi, bacteria , viruses and also may be the parasites that can diseases.They also study the deficiencies of the nutrients in the plants and also about the causes of the environmental factors on the plants.

The main purposes of the pathology of the plant are to understand about what is the nature of the diseases of the plants, indentify that which agents causing the diseases, and the development of the best effective methods to control and prevent the plants from the diseases. This is very important field which ensures the security of the food as the diseases of the plants can cause significant losses of the crops, and can affect the quality and the quantity of the products in the agricultural field.

The plant pathologists use different techniques and tools in their work.The identification of the disease is the first main step which includes the observation and the diagnosis of the disease in the plant present on the basis of the signs and the symptoms.

The other main method is the study of the life cycle of the pathogens in the plants and what is the physiology of the pathogens, and it is very important to understand that how these pathogens can affect the plants , how they spread and how cause disease.

The pathologists of the plants investigate about the spread of the diseases and how the factors can influence the development of the plant pathogens. This is the study about the conditions of the environment and , susceptibility of the host.
The technique of the management of the diseases in the plants is the development and the implementing such strategies which can control the diseases and further prevent them from the reoccurring.

The plant pathology is a multidisciplinary field in the science which combines the knowledge from the various disciplines in the science such as the science of biology, chemistry and about the genetics of the genetics in the plants. This field plays an important role in the protection of the crops to make the crop yields high and effective.

The diseases of the plants cause a significant threat to the production of the crops worldwide. The pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and many other pathogens can destroy the crops, leading to the losses in the crop yields.The plant pathology plays an important role in identifying and managing the diseases in the plants and also protect the food supply worldwide.

The plant pathologists develop the disease resistant crop varieties, implications of the strategies to control the diseases to make the crop production high.

The diseases of the plants can affect the stability of the economics by decreasing the production of the crops. Due to the diseases in the plants the farmers can face financial loss due to the reduced yield.

The plant diseases can affect the health of the natural environment. These pathogens can cause infection in the native species of the plants and can disrupt the balance in the ecology and can lead to the loss in the biodiversity potentially.But the plant pathology is helpful to understand the mechanism of the diseases and manage the diseases to protect the natural environment and make the ecosystem stable.
