It's indeed true that they're vectors of various disease, but we shouldn't also forget that they have a role to play in the eco system.

Thank you for this comment on my housefly post. After reading through, I was moved to look for any positive thing that could be associated to Houseflies.
Imagine someone deficates in the open, and three years later, it is still sitting here. The activities of a housefly will quicken the processes of decomposition, and in few weeks, the eyesore is removed. They eat up dead animals, recycling organic matter, and also function as an agent of pollination, a duty we often only ascribe to the bees.
Thanks for initiating this shift in perspective.
