No Knowledge is Lost

No knowledge is lost. This was the very words a wise man once said. I totally agree with this statement and trust me, am not agreeing blindly to it, I can relate. Most of the knowledge I acquired carelessly and unintentionally at some point in my life turned out to be useful.

Infact I still regret I missed out on learning somethings I thought weren't relevant in my life at some point. I could remember a time I found myself in the technical department in my local church back then, I do not have flare for anything "technical" ,you know, the sounds mic, speakers etc. And so I didn't channel my energy into it, I was just passive about it.

Not many month after, I was mobilized for NYSC and then I found myself in a church where good sound was a challenge, I could not but feel bad and hard on myself because I couldn't help out with what I was offered and begged to be taught freely back at home....my boss begged me to learn about sound but I focused on media rather even though I was with him...

What led to this...?

Well, I jumped on the opportunity to learn a new found skill today.
I have always loved to play drums but then the desire to learn piano has always override my love for drums. I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to learn it today.
Once bitten twice shy is a reality I can relate with personally, I have shared with you how I missed the opportunity to learn about sound production and now I wouldn't allow the opportunity to learn drums elude me again.

How did I cease the opportunity...?

Man they say, proposes while God disposes. That was my case today. I actually prepared to go tutor some set of people on piano, they are complete novice. I had my material put together both my personal note I scribbled and the PDF materials I had gotten for the lectures

Lesson material

I got to the agreed venue which is the church to come tutore these people as planned and none of them showed up at the stipulated time (3pm). Trust me it can be so annoying because I left some things just to attend to this very tutorial. What pissed me off more was that it was a free tutorial but it's been taken with levity.

The Piano for tutorial

I was just there musing and thinking what next to do and then the drummer tutor came in, we had planned running the tutorial simultaneously and just like in my case, no one came around to learn how to play drums as well.

Suddenly it dawned on me that I could cease the opportunity to learn how to play since we were just two in the church. I quickly switched and told him I would love to be his student.

He accepted immediately as if he was expecting this or maybe he didn't just want it to be like he wasted his time coming down... whichever it is, all I know is I learnt how to play something interesting today😊.

My tutor and I

The tutorial lasted for close to an hour and it was quite interesting, trust me, I learnt every moves he taught so fast that he was surprised, let me say am a curious and fast learner. It made the class quite easy for me and my tutor.

What a good way to start the year... Am not going to take what I've leant for granted even though what happened today seem like a coincidence. I have decided to continue the lesson, since I already have the mindset that no knowledge is actually lost, it will definitely be useful sooner than expected.

Your drummer boy

Anyways, that was how I became a drummer boy today. Don't be surprise when you see me starring in the videos of most of your favourite gospel artists in years to come.

So what is that skill you've always wanted to learn, have you started taking deliberate steps towards learning it? It's just too early to start making excuses or procastinating, start today! Start now!....

Thanks for the support @fjjrg.

@Ihorgic, This is true, as knowledge can never truly be lost. Even if it is forgotten or not actively used, it can always be regained and relearned. Thanks for sharing this.

You're very correct dear friend, am glad you can relate. Thanks so much for interacting with my post.
