The last day of Steem

If all the rumours about the next Dan Larimer's (@dan) initiative are right, we'll soon see the launch of the mEOS, a new blockchain social network expected to be announced in a few hours, first of June. After creating the blockchain platforms of Steem, and BitShares earlier, Dan, who is leading the EOS since 2017 and just published a teaser in his Twitter account @bytemaster7, can reveal what is being talked here since last year: a kind of Steem 2.0.

Many fatalistic steemians are almost sure that this means that Steem is over. Following this belief, what I see is that mEOS looks like a butterfly that will appear from a crawling catterpilar that was our experience here on Steem untill now.

Today at least, if it doesn't repeat what happened on the EOS launch (which the announced release date was postponed) the growing anxiety that is being filled since last year - as posted by @taskmaster4450: Bitshares, EOS, and STEEM 2.0???? in March 2018 - would finally have an end. Two months ago, @joaohazim published {EOS} Promise of a STEEM 2.0? and this week, in a countdown, @shainemata posted Looking Forward to MEOS and @quillfire MEOS... June 1st... The STEEM/Steemit Killer.

I'm not the kind of a person that prefer to suffer in advance, when I registered as an user here in 2016 the Steem tokens were in its all time low valuation (the STEEM cryptocurrency had a value of 10 cents, much less than today - supposed to be doomsday - when the price on @coingecko points U$ 0.40. At that time I was only interested in explore how a social network on blockchain could work and the price of the tokens was the less important issue. One thing I learned from that beggining was the blockchain's concept of its decentralized, permanent and immutable system, so, in theory, while exists at least near 20 people interested in sharing their computers and connectivity being the Steem witnesses, my posts and also of others who published here would be saved and accessible.

Although I'm used to test almost all social network on blockchain with cryptocurrencies that appeared, including the ones using Ethereum, like Cent.co and Minds, I still don't know how to configure an EOS wallet or account. I followed the launch of other EOS ecosystem's projects, like the Trybe social media and Everipedia (https://everipedia.org) wiki, but I didn't think they were attractive or profitable enough for spending my time there.

If the mEOS will be available tomorrow I won't miss to test it, this doesn't mean that I won't post here anymore (this post title was intentionally exaggerated just to call attention :-)). Unless we really had a surprise really creative and original, the competition with the popular social networks would be very hard to overcome. Today the Facebook, Instagram, Snap and even TikTok are disputing which augmented reality filters could transform the people's pictures and videos more attractive and unusual.

As some of you may saw, the last social media sensation was a filter that tranformed the user in a child again. Even illustrating this post with a picture* of me when I was 5 years old, I don't believe that Steem neither mEOS can offer something similar soon.
