Why Minnows/Plankton should try using SmartSteem/ minnow booster instead of bid bots?
Steemit is growing at a very good pace, when I joined in December we had only 0.5 million sign-ups, in just two months we have 0.25 million sign-ups totalling 0.767 million.
Yeah, that also includes bots and spammers, faux accounts but these numbers are overwhelming and could make real content lost in the sea of spammers.
We all know that 'Promotion' tab is full of shit, and no one is using that tab.The content creators in order to get post their post promoted have to depend on bid bots.
The minnows/planktons in order to get noticed are trying to use bid-bots and end up in losing some SBDs.
What are bid bots and how they work?
Accounts having lots of SP, which they accumulated in two years on steemit, sell their upvotes in exchange for SBDs or steem. That's how the upvote business works. If you have 500 SP and instead of upvoting someone for free, you may ask for money in return then you are in some sort of upvote business.
People in order to save themselves from the hustle and work of trading votes manually, designed upvote bots.

To buy upvote, you just need to check upvote bots ROI and transfer SBDs to the bot using steem connect.
You just need to look at max suggested bid, for greater returns.
For looking at the ROI you need to click on the "Details Tab". Here something like this gonna pop-up
Look at current ROI and Last Rounds ROI, it is mostly in negative these days and finding positive is currently rare.
Anyways if bot gives you positive ROI you could place your bid. The higher you bid, the higher is VP %.
Why upvote bots are not profitable lately?
Due to increase in traffic and more people trying to buy upvote, the ROI (Return on Investment) has mostly gone down in negative. People trying to buy upvote don't care/ lack adequate knowledge about ROI and buys upvote reducing the ROI.
Even the top upvote bots are facing these issues and are not profitable anymore.
Though steembottracker shows a notification whenever certain bot is showing profitable deal. But in the time frame of 5 minutes things changes and ROI after curation goes down in negative.
To use the bot effectively you need to learn about the previous ROI and have to bid with more SBDs than others.
Well its a lot of work to do, and it sucks when you don't get desired deal.
To solve this problem, we have SmartSteem and Minnow Booster-
These two are great projects working on post promotion. People could lease/delegate there voting power to them in exchange for SBDs same way the bid bots work.
The difference between 'SmartSteem(@smartmarket)/minnow booster' and 'upvote bots' is that the former one checks itself for profitable upvote for your bid before upvoting.
If they find any successful deal, they get your post upvoted. If they don't see any profitable deal they return your money.
Difference between Steem market and Minnow Booster.
The minnow booster project returns the entire amount. If you send 3 SBD to minnow booster and it couldn't find any successful deal for upvote amounting $7.28, they will return 3 SBDs mentioning that in the memo. If they find anything closer they will upvote your post.
Whereas smartsteem searches the best value upvote and returns the remaining amount. Like if you send 3 SBDs to @smartmarket it will search for max value upvote it could get you. Even if it could provide upvote for 0.3 SBDs, it will upvote your post and return 2.7 SBDs back to you.

Conclusion
Upvote bots on steemit are here to stay till we see some changes in promotion tab by steem inc. The minnows/plankton in order to promote their posts may lose some sbds in the process because of high traffic on their usage. So instead of buying votes through steembottracker, they may try transferring some sbds to minnowbooster/smartmarket with the link of the post in the memo.

I didnt know it worked like. I have used some bigbots for the first last week and the week before, and often I felt more screwed over than happy with the vote. Only @buildawhale delivered every time, but the rest...not reallyyy
Maybe I should try using @buildawhale once... I haven't used that bot yet..
Yeah actually I am more focused on using minnow booster and smartsteem... they don't have high value upvotes always but they are always profitable :)

Can you just send it you're post in a memo
you just need to transfer some SBDs to @smartmarket from your wallet with the link of your post in the memo :)

very true, The bidbots really are bad these days
95% of the time the ROI will be negative due to people that do not know what they are doing voting up in the last minute and ruining it for others.
