I'm A Dolphin Again! Thinking About What Makes STEEM Valuable

In a stake weighted environment like Steem, influence is proportional to the amount of tokens you hold.
The bigger your stake, the more impactful your vote and the higher the chances your voice is being heard.
If you want to tip the scales here, converting your liquid Steem / SBD into Steem Power is the only way.
6 months ago I started to power up again after having invested some of my earnings outside the network, and today I finally hit the 5K milestone.
I'm not planning to touch my stake any time soon, so chances are high that it will be slightly increasing until the end of the year :-)
It really feels special to be one of those sweet creatures again.
Hold and play.
One of the great benefits of investments in Steem is that you don't just hold your tokens. You even get a stake to play on top of it.
It took me three years to fully understand that.
I'm grateful I came across the @oracle-d project (oracle-d.com), which was a clear eye-opener to me in that context.
That project - along with many other - is able to build a bridge between the crypto world and already existing industries and businesses. It's able to offer solutions to real existing problems - and like that to create value.
Value is created when problems are solved. The bigger the problems you solve, the higher the value.
Steem as it is designed today is already solving a whole series of problems.
Think about censorship, zero-fee peer-to-peer transactions, and think about social influence.
The access to a vibrant, blockchain based, decentralized community is not only attractive to advertisers. Any type of product or service can benefit from the influence some of the major accounts and sub-communities already do have within the ecosystem.
In fact the Steem community can be leveraged in order to serve whatever purpose of business.
That's one of the reasons why I'm holding my tokens and powering up everything I earn.
Lately there've been some really ground-breaking business opportunities being created on Steem, and I'm pretty sure that the market will discover them very soon.

Ha ha, having been lucky enough to run into some wild dolphins on one of my scuba diving expeditions I feel a special affinity for these awesome nomads of the sea. I've had my eye on dolphin-hood since I started on steem.

Oh you did see some dolphins under water? That's awesome!! I have seen some jumping around a boat at the Maldives once - that's been pretty impressive, too. They really seem to be some happy creatures, and we human beings feel happy when being surrounded by them. Win win, haha

Yeah, I've been very lucky with the marine life I've spotted while diving over the last 15 years. The pod of dolphins is still one of my favourite encounters.
It was in Egypt on a Liveaboard dive trip in the deep South of the red sea at St Johns reef. Really was a magic experience. Two of the pod spilt from the rest and came swimming around us and playing while the rest just passed over. They were with us for about 10 minutes before swimming off to find the pod, I'll never forget it 🙂
You're right. They're just super happy and it's infectious. Like you can't help but smile when you see them.

You see - I didn't even know you were not a Dolphin (anymore), because you're acting like a 'Whale' :D It's all very relative but it sure does feel good when we make certain milestones :-) Hope this time around it's possible to keep above the 5000 mark! (And we're going to moon a little even this year :D)
