How Steemit has Revolutionalize International Money Transfer in Africa-Nigeria
Rewind back to a couple of years back, Precisely 2015; to get a wired transfer through Western Union from my cousin in the US sending in funds from New York to Nigeria for Diabetic drugs for my aunt. It was an hectic tasks as i could never decline such errands because one way or another i have to help the poor old lady stay alive at least for some months even if it requires just running errands for her and her son over in the States.
It was a "Ridonculous" process as the requirements are too bogus and baseless-An international Passport or Drivers licesence or maybe a National Identity card which was not available to the masses was the required modes of Identification to get $100 after about $17 had been taken as fees from the other end. So if you have none of this, the you have a more complex case at hand. Luckily i have a my international passport!
This ans many are the phlights of citizens in this part of the World before a light shined out of the dark tunnel through the Blockchain- steemit. Now, i get funds into my local account without stepping outside my gate and in the most friendly manners ever without hassles. For as many Africans/Nigerians that would agree with me, Steem/SBD is the best wire Transfer Money could Buy!
With the Blockchain, hours of waiting in a bank for a wire transfer has been reduced to just moments of waiting depending on your medium of exchange and conversion to fiat.Though it still requires intermediary means/Cryptocurrency(Ether or Btc) to convert Steem/SBD to Naira(The Nigerian Currency); this had proven to have surpassed many years of Transfer charges Rip-off!
For a swift conversion,we @steem-lagos recommend using Ether and thankfully it is now trading on a couple of local trading platforms e.g Luno and Remitano, faster transactions than using Bitcoins before getting the Naira equivalent. I just showed my mum my steemit earnings and she asked me how come? I had to explain blockchain and steemit and bitcoin to her. Mehn! It wasn't easy then I just saw this post and showed. She got a little bit of idea. Lol, I hope she joins steemit and the cryptoworld soon.
