The Samsung bought Steemit story?

Yesterday my Steem feed had some very strange news, about Samsung allegedly has bought Steemit.Inc.
Of course something like that caught my attention and I did some research on it.
The bottom line is that @clayop, again allegedly, setup a deal between Samsung and @ned to sell Steemit (not the Steem blockchain) to Samsung. This would have happened early december, and would be the reason behind the silence of @ned for that period and the lay of of 70 % of Steemit's staff.
The official news would be released by the end of January.
The facts
What part of all this is proven, and on what is it based? After searching the internet and just about the entire Steem blockchain, it is all about one conversation between @haejin and @kaliju on discord mid December. Picture of that is below. And @sircork comfirming this news, but no source has been mentioned by him. Following that posts about this by @kaliju and @drutter about this have been resteemed dozens of times.
In comments of course, people has all kinds of opinions on this. But @ausbitbank is absolutely sure it is fake news, he says.
Weird news, and I really don't know what to think about it. But my gut feeling says me to believe the deniers. Anyway, we will know soon I guess. If you have other sources, be sure to drop them in the comments. And leave you opinion.

Smells like viral misinformation to me. Although I have no evidence, there is also no evidence that Samsung has bought STINC.
That was my opinion too, the only fact is @haejin his statement about it... Weird to say something like that if it’s not true, though.

Is there confirmation by both parties in the screenshot that that was even a real conversation? Seems likely to me that this is misinformation created to change the market price of STEEM.

I care to know if it's fake news or no. But also, it'll be great to have a tech giant with years of experience take over steemit.com. At least it's not the entire blockchain.
Maybe i'm looking at it all wrong. Buying over steemit inc might include gaining control over the stake and having total control over witnesses and stuff, which, essentially, means owning the chain. Lol... Pretty fake news, but it sure as hell would do a lot of good to our bags!
It would skyrocket the value of steem, I think that’s the reason people want to believe this 😏
