GOOD/BAD NEWS!!! Changelly Now Accepts Several New Currencies Such As Golos, Golos Gold, ETC. Drops Steem/SBD?!
It appears as though our friends over at www.changelly.com ( @changelly ) has recently made some serious changes! At first glance, they all seemed to be awesome, but upon further investigation I noticed a thing or two that made me shed a few tears while internally crying the words "Why, god?! Why!?" At any rate, lets keep this short, sweet, and to the point!
THE GOOD:
@Changelly has added Golos ( www.golos.io )and Golos Gold (Golos' version of SBD) among others to their exchange! I've personally been looking for a way to exchange Golos easily and have finally found it!!! To my knowledge, this is the first among the quick exchangers like ShapeShift or BlockTrades, to offer Golos. Changelly has also consistently given me the best rates and the best service of all of the aforementioned. Not discrediting them, they work and I like them, but Changelly has always been the most solid for me.
THE BAD:
Changelly doesn't appear to be exchanging Steem or SBD anymore which is very strange. I e-mailed them to ask if this is temporary or if they've removed it entirely, and more importantly, WHY?!

Also, if you use the service or even if you don't, sign up and grab a referral link and pass it around to folks that you think may benefit from the service. They lose nothing at all, you just get a small portion of the 0.5% fee that the end user pays for the exchange.

Yeah, I don't really understand what the issue would be. If they can work with Golos, they should be able to work with Steem just fine. Who knows though? Now that I think about it a little more, I do recall talking to Konstantin Gladych (CEO of Changelly) last week at Consensus and he was mentioning something about working with/transitioning to some new exchanges. Maybe this is just a temporary thing that will be hashed out in time? It makes sense that this is more likely just a temporary thing if I were to guess.
Hopefully it's a temporary thing. It would be strange like Bitcoin being removed from an exchange.

Once you register, just hit the affiliate link at the top and on that page, you'll see your referral link. Just send that to someone, and if they make a transfer, you get a little share of the 0.5% fee they collect. Doesn't affect your end user at all, just gets you a little piece of the pie :-).
I know they had serious issues with servicing Steem. I wonder if that has something to do with it.
That's weird, I never heard anything about that. I never had any issues and made some pretty large transactions with them BTC <-> STEEM. Since Golos is a clone of Steem, I don't see why they couldn't have both instead of one without the other unless it was something to do with the actual exchange they use in the BG.

At least they responded personally and resolved it for ya. The only issues I've had is when I'm changing BTC and the BTC getting clogged in the network. That issue has been absolutely PLAGUING me lately, so lame. The fees for the Bitcoin network have skyrocketed lately and even when you pay an outrageous fee, you'll sometimes see week delays and stuff. The longest one I had was 9 days :-/.
Yup, they did. Steemit seemed to be the impetus to get it done.
Steem sure does seem to be very superior. It will be interesting to see if people at large will take notice of that with all the competition out there.
Yeah, you'll notice that a lot of blockchain/crypto companies are starting to use this medium quite a bit, it's cool.
Well, graphene blockchain tech IS superior. It's superior to every other model out there that I know of and I feel like I'm decently in tune with the landscape. It's by far the most flexible by a wide margin. Couple that with no transaction fees and blazing fast block times, you can't mess with it! It's a beast. With the introduction of EOS right around the corner, things are going to get interesting!
I agree whole heartedly. It also has the benefit of use in social platforms. It is a novel use case and a huge one. Of course, it does not preclude anyone from buying a cup of coffee with it, but rather is probably the best for that.
Yep, we're part of something pretty wild. Can't wait to see how the future plays out for it. I know for a fact that it has truly helped a lot of people in need, that's something special.

The first time i saw the word was at the time i was logging in to steem through the esteem Android app first time , it gave two options - steem or golos
Golos = www.golos.io and is a Steemit clone, but is primarily a Russian/Slavic userbase. Not as big as Steemit of course, since it covers a smaller portion of the globe, but it's pretty much exactly the same thing with a few minor differences. If you had a Steem account, I think roughly before the new year, then you will have your account on Golos as well. It's completely different, but your credentials are the same. Go try it! Go to www.golos.io and use the credentials that you use to log into Steemit with. You probably already have an account there. Have fun!

Yep, Golos gobbles them all up. It caters to them a lot better, of course. It's like Steemit = Facebook while Golos = Vkontakte.com (VK) if you know what that is.
But yeah, check it out, you might have a dollar or two in Golos on there haha.
My wife goes pretty hard on there, as well as here on Steemit. She's @kotturinn
Yeah, I'm familiar with VK. Few months ago there was this fad for Facebook users to move to vk after zuckerberg started heavy censoring and deletion of many political (right wing) and meme pages
Facebook is dead. So is the current mainstream social media business model. It's GAME OVER.
I hope that were true, but I'd say it's a little too early to make that claim, literally billions of people still use that website regularly

I got my first STEEM from them. Visa / Mastercard accepted on Changelly? I can't seem to figure where that payment option is or maybe it is country specific.
I think that I recall reading that they're currently having issues accepting Visa/MasterCard, so I'm pretty sure that those payment methods currently are not an option. I may return as an option soon, however. Your best bet would be to start with some other supported cryptocurrency, sell something on OpenBazaar, or buy some BTC /Steem/BitShares/etc. from a friend, or pick up some BTC from Local Bitcoins or Coinbase and take it from there.

Did they previously support Steem/SBD? I can't really recall them offering it before, but I may be mistaken. If you want Steem/SP/SBD, you can always use https://blocktrades.us/ ( @blocktrades ).

I'd say (hope) that it's just a temporary thing. Talking to the CEO of Changelly last week, it sounded like they were in the process of working with some new exchanges, so maybe this is what's currently up. It may result in Changelly's options broadening even more once they work out the kinks? That's what I'm hoping for anyways, and I'm sure everyone else is too.

In my experience, and I've compared the main ones out there that I'm aware of (Changelly VS ShapeShift VS Blocktrades), they've always came out on top in terms of speed, accuracy, getting you the best deal, and having the cheapest fees. If you need to exchange some crypto, give them a shot, I've always been more than happy with them when I've used them and I've used them quite a bit.
