Ned Scott is a terrible CEO if what the Steem witnesses are saying about him is true

in #steem5 years ago

Ned Scott, the CEO of Steem Inc has received a lot of criticism recently for his stupid decisions and relying on speculative investments to run a company. Here's what witnesses are saying about him:

well, there's been a ton of suggestions over the months and years, unfortunately steemit ignored them and we're witnessing the results

and priorities weren't put in the right place, such as optimizations, performance and scalability, which ended up costing them a lot of money and 70% layoffs

In another message, the same witness criticized Steem Inc's communication.

and when i once told andrarchy in a forum talk that steemit "should focus on scalability and optimization", i was met with the response: "don't tell us how to run our business"

Another witness criticized him for not listening to his advice.

If Ned would have listened to me over a year ago, he may have been able to save that sorry ass inertia's job.

Amirite?

STINC, as an actual company/business, obviously needs revenue for long-term sustainability. Speculative profits allegedly did not work out.

But in July 2017, when I tried explaining this to Ned and how incorporating this into Steem would be innovative/revolutionary, he decided to be a condescending dickwad instead.

Another witness highlighted that Steem.com features fake accounts that either don't exist or have never made any transfers.

Sort:

From everything I've seen/heard talking to witnesses, Ned is a truly awful CEO. A combination of being somewhat young with being surrounded by a bunch of yes-men.... not a good thing for the ego.

It's pretty easy to see in most of his responses to the community, which are quite frequently condescending. Only recently, now that finances are crumbling, are we seeing him display a hint of humility. But it wasn't a good humility I saw in the recent livestream, it was borderline depressed surrender: directionless and vague, with little decisiveness. That's not how a real leader acts.

If he has any self-respect, he would voluntarily step down from the position, or "sunset" Steemit.com and allow better projects using the STEEM blockchain to become the face of the blockchain.

In case of doubt it's much worst than it seems.

Could be a good opportunity for us to truly make this place decentralized though no? Do it the way we want? Pull together and take control? I think right now things are rough and I’m not impressed with his actions.. but I also see the opportunity and individuals like yourself could be vital in the change coming. Don’t give up on us yet!
