Sadly for us, DLive has done very well since leaving Steem and becoming DLive.tv

It has massively surpassed d.tube in traffic, and likely all Steem related sites outside of Steemit.com

While DLive is growing rapidly, the larger Steem sites have been in decline. Those Steem sites which have grown are much smaller in comparison.

This is what we've done with Steemhunt ;)

thing is, it worked. while dtube had uploading problems, deleting videos, not playing videos, dlive in most cases just worked. allowing people to interact with no acc is a plus, for most people it is still complicated to log, use different keys, wait for 2 weeks for an acc. average men forgets about steen in that 2 weeks while waiting for an acc

as upset as i was and still am at how they chose to leave steem and use the delegation they have some amazing things going for them

the brand and marketing is superior. they put a lot of effort on how their platform looks but also functions.

and they niche is where everyone is looking. live streaming for gamers is massive and attracts a big audience.

the issue will always be, ethics for me. they chose to abuse this community , use us and leave us. sadly, it hasn’t seemed to hurt their ability to build their brand.

a shame. because they do so many things right. would have been nice to see them grow with the community that launched them

But why are so many people using it when you can only get testnet tokens? They're not even on an exchange as far as I can tell. I'm also skeptical that Lino is really a blockchain at all and not just a distributed app using "blockchain" for the buzz value.

to be honest. i don’t think they even care about being a crypto or on a blockchain.

from what i can see they are trying to take some of twitch’s business.

i think you hit the nail on the head. they used ‘blockchain’ as buzz and part of their marketing.

But if it's not crypto, it seems likely the users aren't getting real money. They're getting something more like Microsoft points.

lol exactly. they never did that move to reward their members. they did it because they got massive financial backing from lino.

It seems that this is how you turn Lino into money.

More than a bit dodgy. A) They are claiming it is a testnet - which allows them to fully control the blockchain, yet they are still assigning monetary value to their "testnet tokens". B) It appears the only way to convert Lino to other forms of money is through them. You buy/earn the tokens through them, you convert to cash through them. Why does this remind me of OneCoin or BitConnect?

I think it's safe to say they are Lino'ing their own pockets :)

Why?

A catchy name? Better marketing? Even though they used and abused Steem, can we learn something?

They don't demand that you have a blockchain wallet/account in order to engage with the content.

What do you mean? You do need an account to vote, comment or earn tokens.

Most if not all Steem dApps won't let you write comments or do simple social interactions with the content creator or other site visitors without having a Steem account. That is still a big barrier to entry as it often requires it to be bought, or for the user to be redirected to steemit.com and then wait for an account. DLive, ever since it was on Steem, allowed users to make guest accounts (or now even start commenting after just verifying their email). Sure it doesn't let them earn tokens, but for a majority that is likely fine.

Considering how you looked at the alexa ratings, I think allowing more people to engage without too much requirements helps them improve that. We'll be launching our own comment section too soon where you don't need a steem account to leave a comment. Just the same type of email verification most people are used to everywhere, but where we'll send them an email with an invite to try out Steem once they've left a comment through our interface.

Sounds like a great idea there.

Guest accounts is a really great idea and we should use it! I wrote a post quite some time ago about the possibility to assign free temporary accounts to new users, but maybe my approach was a bit complicated. But this needs to be explored more because it could help onboarding immensely!

Would be great if Steemit did that as well. How expensive would it be having guest accounts posting to Steemit? A front end should be able to do that. You just wouldnt be writing the data from guest accounts to the blockchain.

Why not write to the blockchain? All you'd need is a convention for guest accounts, such as attaching metadata for the name or pseudonym they are writing under and a way to present it on the UI.

Because you dont want to flood the blockchain with data from non accounts.

That's not a good reason to be storing it in a centralized system elsewhere. It's just text data, let the bandwidth system and witnesses handle the issue of blockchain load. If it really becomes a problem later we can come up with a general solution to batch and hash posts into the blockchain to reduce load.

Also they will still be accounts, just owned by the app owner and shared to users.

But why store them to the blockchain? Whats the point of that? They arent users. They dont have an account. They arent stake holders.

They wouldnt be steem accounts. Just front end guest users.

Wow. But very sadly that we lost dlive from steem.
I have posted many videos on dlive and get very well response. Happy to see dlive progress.

Yes. Showing progress in well manners. Agreed with Steem sites which have grown are much smaller in comparison.

Dlive was a one of the best dapp on steem blockchain. And now it has own brand name

Better market. Javing a good name. Great market stats. Good to see dlive on the moon.

That hurts a bit seeing this! I still believe in the steem to reach millions! Hopefully in time these stats will return to steem favor!
