Hard to argue with the main points - although the question of what amounts to "responsible" self-voting is going to vacillate pretty wildly depending on who is interpretting it. Plus the ability of other high SP whales to regulate is dependent on their knowledge and their willingness of the abuse - which may be presuming a lot.

Slightly hijacky sidenote - but inherently relevant to Steem/SP value - I have some thoughts on the taxation of steempower in particular that I would love your opinion on, whether you upvote or not. I think my interpretation of newly earned steempower as an unexercised stock option may have legs.
