The content on steemit is getting better and better everyday

Does anyone remember myspace.com in 2003? I was 13 years old and started an account pretty early. Myspace marketing campaign was to get bands to join the platform, upload their music, and bring their fans with them. Although before this exodus, myspace was an awesome concept, but with little content of any value being exchanged. I remember the local news reporting on it like social media was just a fad, and that there wasn't anything of any value to be found there. We all know the story though. Myspace blew up, and by 2006 it was the number one site on the internet, and it started a craze that for better or worse would change the way our society communicates, shares information, and pretty much every aspect social interaction in the west. No one in 02 or 03 would have guessed the ramifications from this technology.

Fast forward to 2018. We have an awesome platform called steemit financially rewarding us for our content, and interactions, though in the early days, much like myspace, most of the content was low effort. This week we we're excited as a community to finally see a mainstream news outlet bring out our lord and savior @ned to expose the tech to the masses. The first criticism, much like in the myspace days, was low quality content. This is one of the most common criticisms even within the community.

I feel like this was a fair critique a year ago, but i don't believe it apply s today. We have seen loads of established youtubers joining the platform, and the musicians are getting better and better everyday. The artist within our community continue to blow my mind everyday. We have some serious talent being represented on steemit. Yes there is still loads of shit-posting, self up-voting, and vote buying, but it doesn't take much digging to find great content these days, and as the platform grows there will be even more.

It sucks that the best content doesn't usually make it to the trending page, but I would argue that's true on most platforms with an exception of maybe reddit. Just look at the trending pages of YouTube, or instagram. Most the really popular personalities are just bloggers doing reaction videos or staging stupid fake pranks. Click-bait titles that lure even the most skeptical youtube explorer. Every time I'm on youtube my stomach churns at the stupid, unintelligent content like the Logan, and Jake Pauls of the world, and the tsunami of dumb ass mumble rappers that have been attacking my feed everyday, with their boring music and their lean. A lot of these videos are just shit. Shit in 1080p so you can see every peanut in the turd they're posting. and the creators are making tens of thousands of dollars every month off of it. But you can't argue that the content isn't worth the payout, because they are getting the views. Unfortunately most of the audience is entertained by these incredibly simple songs and blogs.

I just wanted to remind people of what is popular on other platforms in order to bring some context for steemit. Yes shit content makes the trending page, but it does on every platform. Unfortunately the culture we live in value outrage, and drama, more than talent, and passion. Of course this is going to be reflected on steemit as well. I mostly just wanted to say not to worry. If you're new around here and looking for some great pages to follow, then go check out some of my posts highlighting my favorite steemians, or just ask. I can always name off about 20 users that are making great posts. The content here is getting better everyday, and steemit is following the path of every other social media platform out there. I'm still extremely bullish on steem, and excited to see what the future brings.

My space was great!Facebook never came close to My space.

I know! I found so many good bands on there. It was probably the best platform for musicians. I never imagined social media would become like this though. It's crazy to think back.

awesome post, about history of learning,, when i started online earning,, one teacher told me about ptc site, so it is great idea

I have also noticed the content has started to change from blatant plagiarised-bot voting based content to more in-detail analysis and commentary. It will take time.

Trust the process.

Thanks for the post.

We have to understand the early stage we are still in... Not even the 1% of the world content creators have joined steemit, simply because they dont know about it, or because they still feel comfortable on their current social media... But thinks are changing, mainstream social media like Youtube, Instagram, Twitter etc are getting worse with the time, screwing content with annoying adds, and screwing creators with low revenues and censorship... Artist and content creators are going to notice about Steemit and soon or later they will join, its just a matter of time...
