SMT Release Dates Updated: Whatcha Think? (March 2019 Update)

Hey guys,

This post was recently updated to show the "new release date" for SMTs.

Straight from the Horse's mouth:

"UPDATE, March 11th, 2019: We have delayed the release of SMTs to focus on MIRA, which is software that leverages state-of-the-art database technology developed by Facebook to move the blockchain from RAM to commodity hardware. We expect the release of SMTs to dramatically increase the amount of transactions made to our blockchain (already one of the most used) and as the team behind the largest blockchain application in the world, we understand that the most urgent scaling consideration is not transaction throughput, but the cost of operating high-traffic nodes. That's why it's critical that we complete work on MIRA before releasing SMTs. That being said, much of the work on SMTs is already complete. Be sure to follow @steemitblog if you would like to remain updated on our progress."

What this means

After waiting, it appears there will be more waiting for cXc and all other developers of Steem apps and dapps eager to integrate SMTs on the Steem blockchain. Also, we have no idea when this new release date will be. All we can do is trust in the Steem gods that SMTs will be all we have dreamed of, and pray for a swift and painless release.

We know that the delays are necessary for usability, scalability, and performance, and we are glad that Steemit is taking the time to ensure SMTs won't be an epic fail, but having no idea when it is coming is a bummer.

What this means for cXc & cXc Music

We are continuing to improve cXc Music's alpha release to a feature-rich beta. We are preparing to announce and launch the chart system very soon. We are also re-mobilizing everything, as right now the mobile experience is lacking. We plan to keep adding features, and hopefully right when we have all the features we mention on https://currentxchange.com/cxc-music SMTs will be up and running. This is optimistic (on the SMT date side,) and we will consider using another option, like Steem Engine, if all else fails. For now though, we are full Steem (and SMT) ahead

I want to know what the thoughts of the community are on the further delays, other options, and how you have been operating your apps, etc, without SMTs.
