Some experiments with divs and html attributes

A while ago @uruiamme made a fairly comrehensive post on using html in steemit posts, which tags work and which can't be used. Generally, other than occassional use of <center> tags, I've prefered to just use markdown, so I never really took much notice of this.

However, since joining the steemfest hackathon, my head has been buzzing with ideas for a steem based application. For this I was wondering if their was a way to store meta-data in a post, such that the post would appear to have entirely different content when viewed in the application compared to viewing through steemit and other post/comment type interfaces.

Testing

Apparently html comments are stripped...
(html comment removed: Will this comment still be here? )
...so I can't store the extra data there.

Apparently a <div> is allowed, but can it contain style="display:none;" and id="some-id"? Lets find out...

This text should not display if the style attribute work!

If that doesn't work, I may still have some options, and maybe with research or feedback to this post I'll actually discover an even better way of doing this. We'll see.

Note

Judging from the post preview the div will have all the attributes stripped, but is this a feature of the blockchain itself or just the steemit interface? In other words, would such attributes get stripped if they were posted directly from the application making the post? Definitely some further research or feedback is needed.
