Today, I'm going to talk to you about millipede(හැකරැල්ල). I saw this millipede (හැකරැල්ල) from my green corner bed. I noticed this millipede moving to the left-hand side, while I was trying to collect my green leaf harvest. Then I promptly grabbed my mobile phone and get a video. I will now show you this video.
This millipede (Hakaralla) is a big creature; I've never seen a millipede this size in my house. Then, I tried searching the internet for information about millipedes because it is new to me. I like to share the following information with you.
Millipedes are found in the subtropical rain forests of western Africa. Their favorite habitats on the forest floor are burrows and warm, dark regions like rotting wood. The huge African millipede is the biggest of the 10,000 different millipede species that exist around the globe. The number of legs on a millipede can be anything between 36 and 400. There could be between 30 and 40 segments on the huge African millipede, each with four legs. The millipede is a slow-moving herbivore that eats decaying plant materials. The millipede does not sting or bite. However, in some cases, they can release a fluid toxin from their glands to ward off predators like spiders. When threaten, they curl up in a spiral.
Some are up to 12 inches in length. Giant African millipedes have basic eyes and two antennas at the top of their heads. They also have a single mouth. There are no legs on the millipede head segment.
Because millipedes are nocturnal, they sleep during the day and are more active at night. They are propagated by eggs. In the soil, the female millipede can lay up to 300 eggs, which hatch after a few weeks. Their average life span is 5 to 7 years.
