Jaflong is located in the border area of Sylhet in Bangladesh. On the other side is the Dawki region of India. The Dawki River enters Bangladesh through this Jaflong from the mountains of the Dawki region. Jaflong is mainly located in the basin of the Piain River. There is a mountainous uplift in the Jaflong-Tamabil-Lalakhal region of Sylhet district. Sedimentary rocks are exposed in this uplift, so geological surveys have been conducted there several times by Bangladesh. In addition to stones, plain or porcelain clay has also been found in Jaflong, although there is no infrastructure to purify soil or sand. Just as ordinary Bengalis live in this area, tribals also live there. There are 5 Khasiapunjis in Jaflong, including Balla, Sangrampunji, Nakshiapunji, Lamapunji and Pratappur. According to the census, 1,953 Khasia tribes live in Jaflong.
