Steem Skillshare |S1W2| Subject-Verb Agreement | Homework Post for @abu78
Greetings to all!
Continuing with the English course promoted in this great community, I present my third assignment. I am always ready to acquire new knowledge and I do not want to miss the opportunity to improve my skills in this very important language.
On this occasion, as I already mentioned, I presented my second task of Agreement between subject and verb, according to what was assigned by the teacher @abu78.
Underline the correct verb that matches the subjects, please write the answer only in this question.
- Everyone (has/have) done his or her homework.
- Each of the students (is/are) responsible for doing his or her work.
- Either my father or my brothers (is/are) going to sell the car.
- Neither my sisters nor my mother (is/are) going to sell the house.
- The samples on the tray in the lab (need/needs) testing.
- Mary and John usually (plays/play) together.
- Both of the dogs (has/have) collars.
- Neither the dogs nor the cat (is/are) very hungry.
- Either the girls or the boy (walk/walks) in the evening.
- Either the boy or the girls (walk/walks) in the evening.
- At the end of the fall (comes/come) the hard tests.
- The slaughter of animals for their fur (has/have) caused controversy.
- The student, as well as his teacher, (was/were) going on the field trip.
- The hard tests (comes/come) at the end of the fall.
- Both of my roommates (has/have) decided to live in the dorms.
Find and explore the 6 rules you have learned today and explain in your own words how you understand them. Provide 3 examples of each of them.
Rule Nº 8
Those singular nouns that end in "s" must be considered as singular noun, therefore, it must be accompanied by a singular verb. For example:
a. Cars are my passion.
b. Today's homework is math.
c. Students are diligent in their English class.
Rule Nº 9
When the subject is related to a unit of measurement, be it distance, time, money, weight, etc., it must be considered singular and therefore, the verb must also be singular. For example:
a. 12 dollars worth of fruit is too much for one person to eat.
b. 10 meters of cable is not enough for the electrical connection.
c. 15 minutes is a short time to solve the exam.
20% of the rewards obtained in this post will go to @steem.skillshare to support the growth of the Steem Skillshare Community.
Rule Nº 10
Questions that start with there or here must have the verb before the subject. For example:
a. Where is my phone?
b. There is my phone.
c. Here are your belongings.
Rule Nº 11
The verb and the subject of a sentence must always be in agreement. For example:
a. The greatest virtue they possess is their good education.
b. The students in the class are participatory.
c. The girls at school are good students.
Rule Nº 12
Gerunds, also known as words with "ing" endings, can be subjects and also obey the aforementioned rules. For example:
a. Playing soccer with my brother is funny.
b. Reading a book is a good hobby.
c. Running with my friends and riding a bike are good ways to exercise.
Rule Nº 13
When using who, which or what, the noun referred to by these relative pronouns must be verified, in order to determine whether the subject is singular or plural, and thus determine the corresponding verb. For example:
a. Boys that play soccer are athletic.
b. Boy that plays soccer is athletic.
c. Girls who study are intelligent.
d. The girl who studies is intelligent.
Thankful for the opportunity to participate in this course that will help me improve my knowledge of the English language. Here is the link of the course:

I don't like the chaos related to that project. Could you link the post where sc01 wrote that?
I based my information on this comment:
It is not with the intention of creating chaos; it is only to take into consideration the flexibility that the Steemit team has provided in this regard.
