CONTEST//The Usages of Applying Markdown//by @henryhart//17-04-2021
Hello everyone,
Hope you are all doing great? This is @henryhart from Nigeria.
I will be discussing on how to use the markdowns in your post.
WHAT IS A MARKDOWN
A Markdown is a plain text format used in making write-ups easy and accessible in the internet. The syntax helps text documents to be readable without tags rumple or tousle everything up. This is always faster than writing with a rich text edition especially when using links, bullets, etc.
This is also used as a format for writing for the internet.
TYPES AND HOW TO USE THE MARKDOWNS
There are different types of markdowns, but I will be discussing on seven(7);
ITALICS
For you to be able to italize a word or statement, you should put before and after (surround) your word or statement with an underscore (_).
Or
You can do this by putting one asterisks (*) before and after the word.
BOLD
For you to be able to hold a word or statement you surround your word or statement with two asterisk (**).
Or
You can do this by putting two underscore (__) before and after the word.
LINKS
To create a link during your write-up, you will have to place the link name or text in a bracket ([ ]) and then the link in parenthesis (( )).
HEADERS
There are six kinds of headers in accordance with their sizes from header 1 – header 6.
NB: The more the number of heading, the lesser the size.
To create these headings, you place hashtag (#) before the word depending on the size you want.
LISTS
There are two(2) types; Listed with numbers (ordered) and Listed with bullets (unordered).
• For Ordered: Before each list of things place a number(1), a dot(.), a space( ) and the the word or statement.
• For Unordered: Before each list of things place an asterisk(*), a space ( ), and the the word or statement.
IMAGES
To create an image during your write-up, you place the exclamation mark (!) before the bracket ([ ]) which the image name would be there, followed by the parenthesis (( )) which the image link would be there.
NB: The image would be displayed under because of the exclamation mark (!)
BLOCKQUOTES
This markdown method is used especially when to draw attention to the reader. This also enable the statement holder for clear view. So to do this. Place the ”greater than” sign (>) before the statement.
