Making the most of it: a Wonderful Family Reunion

Family reunions are once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity.

As I get older, I realized that I and my siblings are slowly leaving our parents and it makes them lonely, but is it? I doubt it, they might have great time being done with how hard-headed you are.

My father's birthday was last Sunday and my siblings come home to celebrate it. Our father is old and we decided to make it a little more special for him.

On Friday night, my siblings came home along with their families and we had a family dinner on Saturday night. It was fun and we had karaoke after.

Before we left home, my sisters decided we go to Ate Inday's place the next day. She's a care taker of a small poultry farm and she lives there since over a year ago.

We thought about the food too, my sister had sweet potato in her backyard, and so I asked my mother in law for coconuts for our share.

We took the coconuts on Sunday morning and I brought my wife and son with me even though it was gloomy. Wife is well prepared, so no worries; she always brings extras and sometimes, she'd almost bring the whole house with her just-in-case attitude.

Vani is with us too and Renren who did the climbing. They brought plastic ware and paddle for the coconuts but they did not bring the most important thing; the coconut meat scraper scraper.
While on the farm

We went straight ahead to my sister's house and everyone was already waiting for us.

Of course , my mother got angry on how the coconuts were taken.

We had lunch at 2 in the afternoon, quite late already so everyone was very hungry. The karaoke was already set up and we are ready to have a good time but then my sister said we explore on the abandoned quarry site next to their area.

But all we found was dried up ponds. The quarry holes used to be full of water before and people even come to bathe. Students sometimes sneak out of their classes to come here, and one unfortunate event took life of the student. I was one of the students and after that incident, we were forbidden to come here.

The rain is coming, the sky is very dark but we pursued to go to the next hill.

We indulged ourselves to the wonderful views and took selfies. It was fun and even the kids enjoyed it.

I tired to take a picture of the whole family but it did not went well. The camera was against the light by I like it somehow, it almost looks as though it was silhouettes family picture.

We tried to ignore the rain then the raindrops had gotten bigger. But before we left to run home , I positioned my phone o the ground after setting up the timer and posed.

Every second felt like eternity; rain drops fell into my gear making me so worried. After the shot I turned over my phone to my brother who used the umbrella for the kids and ran off taking my son with me.

Before we got to the house the rain stopped but we are already wet. We changed clothes and listened to the elders taking.

We lingered with the family and waited for my mother to make us coffee. We all had fun, it felt like those times when I was still a kid but with a bonus because I had my wife and son with me.

We parted at 5 in the afternoon, but before that, we talked about when the reunion will happen again and the tentative date will be on the third Sunday of July and I am looking forward for it to happen.

It was really a great time we all had, a family reunion we had more that what we expected.
