🧬 SteemBiota Update: The "Breeding Matchmaker" is here!
Hey everyone! 🌿
I’m back with a quick update on SteemBiota. If you’ve been playing around with the dApp, you know that breeding is the heart of the game—but until now, finding a "genetically compatible" partner was a bit of a manual process. You had to scroll through the tag, check for the right Genus, make sure the sexes were opposite, and then copy-paste URLs back and forth.
Well, say goodbye to the clipboard! I’ve just released the Breeding Matchmaker. 🚀
What’s new?
Now, when you visit your creature’s page, you’ll see a shiny new button: "Find Compatible Partner."
When you click it, the app automatically scans the latest 100 posts on the blockchain for you. It handles all the "biology" behind the scenes:
- Exact Genus Match: It only shows creatures of the same Genus.
- Opposite Sex: No more accidental "Male-to-Male" breeding errors!
- Fertility Check: It only suggests partners that are currently in their breeding window.
- Safety First: It filters out "Phantoms" (deleted posts) and "Duplicates" so you don’t waste time on invalid lineages.
Smart Kinship Checks 🛡️
The coolest part? Breeding still respects the Inbreeding Prevention rules. The system won't let you breed with close relatives (parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, etc.). To make this super fast, I’ve added IndexedDB support, which essentially gives the dApp a "memory" in your browser. Once it learns a family tree, it validates kinship almost instantly.
How to try it:
- Log in and go to your Profile.
- Click on any of your creatures that is in its "Fertile" stage.
- Hit "Find Partner" and see who’s available in the ecosystem!
The goal for SteemBiota has always been Immutable Evolution, and this update makes it much easier for the community to collaborate and grow the family tree without the technical friction.
