DIARY GAMES( 20-10-2025) From waking up, getting garri, visiting the sand pit and then the stream!!

Hello ladies and gents, greetings to you all!! I hope this message finds you all in good health, and I also extend my regards to your families. We're here once again for another edition of DIARY GAMES!!, Usually, this is my favorite part of the day by a mile!!, So guys, I want to officially welcome you all to today's episode!! 😃

To start, today is actually one of the best days of my life in quite a long while. I actually never thought my day will turn out so good and adventurous!. But all the same, it did and I am grateful,

So, I woke up this morning, at exactly 7:20am. Said a prayer and then I got off my bed. I swept the room, had my bed made (or laid) as some people usually put it, did the dishes, had my teeth brushed and then I left to get some garri (a form of swallow made from cassava) to go with my left over okra soup which I had prepared the day prior (yesterday).

So I got to the shop where I usually buy from, exchanged the usual morning pleasantries and then I was attended to. I bought a custard pail of garri which sells for 1,700 Nigerian Naira. I left with the product and then on my way back home, I met an old friend (coincidentally tho) We (I and this old friend of mine) had a little conversation and he told me his woman had put to birth.

Happy and surprised at the same time, I congratulated him and even volunteered to go along with him to the venue (a traditional birth home) to go see his new born baby (female) and to congratulate his woman as well. On getting there, we went in, met the newly born baby, I carried the baby and also congratulated the baby's mother as well.

Before leaving, I tipped the new born a sum of 1,000 Nigerian Naira and then I left. On my way home, I spotted a location where a woman was frying akara (akara is a delicacy made from grinding beans into paste). There were young persons (men basically) gathered around this woman, buying and eating the said akara. Watching then chew in this akara made me begin to crave for the akara! 😅 So, I bought about 5 pieces (or balls) of the akara which cost 500 Nigeria naira since a piece cost 100 naira. I also bought a loaf of bread (since the akara and bread combo usually feels like a man made in heaven) and then ordered for a bottle of mineral (Fanta) to go with it.

I was offered a seat where I sat as I snacked on this very delicious food. After some minutes, I was done and then left for home. On getting home, I warmed the soup, made a cup of garri and ate as breakfast. (I call it breakfast2 since I already had something earlier 😃)

After that, I left for the construction site.
On getting to site, I realized materials (laterite for filling) hadn't arrived yet and even the site engineer was yet to come. Though I met about two other labor workers who happen to be some of my best paddies at the site and we all (3 of us) decided to take a stroll.

It was during this stroll that the real adventure began!! 😃 One of the guys whom we usually call "Hardcore" took us to a sand pit location where I saw the largest amount of sand ever in one place.

I took some photos which I'll upload here and then we left the sand pit. This dude "hardcore" took us to another location (since he is more conversant with the environment around there). This time a stream (we call it idim in ibibio language) Me being a good swimmer, I didn't hesitate to take my clothes off and I jumped into the stream!! It was so fun and memorable!! I swam for some minutes and even tried paddling a conoe that was ducked close to the shore of the stream. It was such an indescribable experience!! We all enjoyed ourselves and then left back to site.

On getting to site (at about 12:30pm) we noticed materials hadn't still arrived yet. At this point, the site engineer who goes by the name Engr. Ambrose has arrived and he offered today as a day off.

I was so excited and left for home. On getting home, I didn't even realize when I had fallen asleep After few hours of sleep, I got up, took another shower (this time with soap and sponge) and it felt so relieving.

After that, I decided to rest a little bit more After resting for another hour, it was getting dark (6:35pm precisely), I got up and fixed myself something for dinner.

I had soup and eba for dinner. Afterwards, I went out to charge my phone since power situation of the country (Nigeria) is a mess!! I got home after charging for about two hours with battery at over 80%.

I told myself that was enough for the day and then went back home. I getting home, I spread my mosquito set to avoid mosquito disturbance and then bid the world goodnight!

Thanks y'all and I hope you enjoyed today's episode of DIARY GAMES on my profile. See you all tomorrow for yet another edition!! Goodbye and God bless 🙏🏽🙂
