The Diary Game [05/10/2025] // A Day of Mixed Emotions.

Steem greetings guys from the motherland of Cameroon and welcome to my blog for another session of my lifestyle content. It was a Sunday and as Christians, a day to worship and it started on a rather sombre note. I woke up early to a message from my cousin. It was about the burial rites and the ashoebi plans for his father-in-law's funeral. The news brought a heavy feeling over me, although not unexpected, it still carried a weight of finality. Losing someone, even indirectly, always nudges you to reflect on life, its fragility, and the inevitable goodbyes we all must face. I sent him my condolences and promised to support him in any way I could, including joining the family for the rites when the time came.

Then I had to prepare breakfast for the family before church service started. I hurriedly prepared fried potato chips with omelettes. I tried feeding the kids before bathing them for the fellowship.

Not long after, the skies broke open and it started raining heavily, the kind of persistent rain that makes you cancel any outdoor plans without regret. Because of the weather, I could not attend the fellowship physically, so I joined the online service instead. I must say, the convenience of virtual fellowship is a blessing on days like this, though I do miss the communal spirit of being in the same physical space with other believers. Still, the message uplifted me and helped shift my mood a bit.

After service, I decided to prepare a local meal for lunch something warm and comforting to suit the rainy day. I settled on miondo and groundnut paste. It had been a while since I made it, and it reminded me of home and simpler times. The aroma that filled the kitchen was nostalgic, and the meal turned out just as I had hoped. I always find a sense of grounding in cooking traditional meals.

Just as I was about to settle down, another challenge presented itself. My daughter started complaining of not feeling well. She had a slight fever and looked quite weak. I rushed out in the evening hours to buy some medications for her.

When I returned, I quickly heated the leftover fufu corn and huckleberry from the previous night so she could eat something before taking her medicine. She managed to eat a little, took her meds, and rested. I kept checking on her every now and then to ensure she was okay.

Later in the evening, with things finally settling, I treated myself to some football. I watched the La Liga game between Barcelona and Villarreal, a solid matchup. I always enjoy seeing how both teams play, and this one didn't disappoint. The rhythm of the game was intense and exciting, offering a much-needed distraction from the day’s earlier events. Barcelona was humiliated with a 4:1 win in favour of Villarreal.

I rounded off the day by watching the final eviction show of Big Brother Naija Season 10/10. It was the perfect mix of drama and excitement, and it was interesting to see how the audience voted and who made it to the end. These shows are sometimes over the top, but they do give you a sense of connection with people across the world, all watching and reacting in real-time.

In all, today was full of emotion, reflection, responsibility, and a bit of entertainment. A Sunday I will not easily forget. Thank God my daughter's situation is stable now and until my next diary I wish all teachers a splendid teacher’s day celebration.

Your Sunday activities were so interesting and challenging, most importantly preparing to join your faith with others faithfuls in the church and suddenly it's rains heavily, the burial of your family member preparation is a great loss,I most condole with your family, please received my condolences,it is always disturbing when a child is ill health in the family, I'm so happy that you quickly identify your child that was sick and you go for medication to give remedy' to the sickness.
But i thank God for you, that upon all those things you encountered, you still have a nice moment to finished up the day activities by watching football match, which i believe give you Joy at the end.
I most definitely say that you face a day that comes with different colors of emotion, responsibility and challenges, but i thank God that you always stand fit to give solution to problems.
Thank you Ma' for sharing this interesting diary.
