Know 7 Railway Stations Of India Which Are Very Beautiful

The railways started in India for the first time on 16th April, 1853. And it ran from Bombay to Thane and covered a distance of about 34 kms. Chennai was the first place where railway tracks were laid and the work of laying started in 1832. Slowly, it has occupied a large space and is carrying around 30 million passengers and around 2.8 million tonnes of freight every day. With various amenities, there are some railway stations that are designed so beautifully, that their images get struck in people's heart.

1. Howrah Railway Station!

Having 23 platforms, this is one of the largest and oldest railway stations in India with holding capacity in terms of both passengers as well as goods. Because of so hustle and bustle and traffic jams people faced lots of problem while going office or home. So in order to avoid these problems new complex was also built which consists of platforms numbering from 17-23.

2.Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus (Mumbai)!

It too comes in the category of busiest railway stations which was designed by a British architect Frederick Williams Stevens. 10 long years were taken to create such masterpiece. The work started in the year 1878 and was completed in 1888. It was renamed from Queen Victoria Terminus to Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus.

3.Chennai Central Railway Station!

Earlier known as Madras Central, later renamed to Chennai Central Railway Station. Designed by George Harding and later redesigned by Robert Fellowes Chisholm. This is considered as one of the most earning railway stations.

4.Charbagh Railway Station (Lucknow)!

One of the most beautiful railway stations designed by J.H. Hornimen. it can hold up to 85 or may be more passenger trains and in total up to 300 trains. The cost incurred was 70 lacs. Construction work started in the year 1914 and ender somewhere around 1923.

5.Secunderabad Junction Railway Station!

The work for construction started in the year 1970 and completed in 1974. In this particular year itself railways was introduced in Hyderabad for the very first time. The connectivity is scattered in whole of India via rail having a capacity of holding passengers around 160000 and 280 in terms of trains.

6.Vijayawada Junction Railway Station!

In history of Indian railways, this is the largest and busiest stations among all. The work of construction completed in the year 1888. The number of platform is 10 of holding capacity of 24 coaches at a time and with 51 million people approximately.

7.Kanpur Central Railway Station!

This is again an example of masterpiece whose construction was completed in the year 1930. As the name shows this is included among the 5 "centrals", with a record of 280 trains passing by every day and passengers around 150000.
