Review : The Hausa Carrot Seller's Kindness

in #stach6 years ago

Sometimes early 2016, I made a post on facebook that generated over 6k reactions and thousand plus comments and shares.

You might think it's some post on how to enhance your financial status or how to become the president of of nation.

After the numerous chats and personal messages, I began to ponder on what was so special about the post, and what matters to people.

Let me share with the content of the post, it goes like this;

I witnessed an act that thrilled me just yesterday while I was at AgodiGate. This carrot seller (an Hausa man) did something that seem spectacular to me,although it seem to him like his lifestyle.

An old man approached him with a 50naira note and requested for a 20naira carrot, but this man realised he didn’t have 30naira change to give this old man if he sells the carrot he requested to him.

He told him kindly that he did not have change, which refused this old man of his desire.

As he was about to leave, out of his kind heart called this man back and gave him a handful of carrots for free.

You might think its a normal thing to do,of course it is but how many of us have willingly given something of ours for free to someone that’s in need of it recently?

This mindset of "nothing goes for free!" has overshadowed the heart of kindness within us.
#TouchALifeToday make someone happy today by giving willingly from your heart.

It struck me that one thing that will forever be celebrated is an act of kindness.

This man was not the richest man and possibly might not have had a single sale that blessed day, but he chose to act not on the basis of profit but of kindness.

Many of us find it difficult to reach out to people that cross our path each day, those that live around us and strangers, we feel it’s not worth it or maybe we’re to busy with what we’ll get out of life than what we have in our hands to offer.

We are made not only to receive, but also to add value to lives, when you take in too much you run into trouble, we are designed to give out too.

I hope this we rekindle our kind spirit and will inspire us to show kindness each day of our lives.

I want you to remember, its only he wo gives with the purest of intentions that get eternal reward, do it with love only.

Giving is best when you give to someone who might never be able to repay you. Nice one.
