ManUtd 4-1 Fulham: United finally wins after a Month

After a series of bad results for over a month, United has defeated the relegation strugglers Fulham. It is also the first win in last 5 matches. United last won a month ago against Bournemouth. Since then, United have lost against City and played 3 consecutive draws against Palace, Southampton, and Arsenal. Also, this was one convincing win after long. United went 3-0 ahead within first half and added fourth after conceding the penalty. With this win, United goal difference is back to positive 2 after having that tag of -1 goal difference for a month.

Today at Old Trafford, United started 4-2-3-1 formation after long. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were at the center back, ahead of de Gea and Diogo Dalot and Young started as a fullback. Matic and Herrera started in the CDM with Pogba in the bench and remained unused substitute. Lukau was the lone striker and Mata, Lingard, and Rashford started behind him. In this formation, United played a dynamic and confident football. But Fulham was also not at their best as they lost possession to United on many occasions and failed to keep track of Uniteds players.

United didnt wait long for the first goal as Young got too much space in the penalty area to curl an impressive goal in the far corner to provide the lead for United at the 13th minute. The poor Fulham conceded again at the 28th minute, as Rashford great pass found Mata who did great to take United 2-0 ahead.

At the 42nd minute, Lukaku got his first goal at Old Trafford after long. Lukaku hadnt scored at Old Trafford since March. The goal was possible resulting in a short corner when Mata found Lukau after exchanging some passes around. United went to break at the commanding position with a 3-0 lead.

After the half, Fulham tried to get back in a game as Ranieri made 2 substitutions at the half. Fulham, at the 67th minute, got a lucky penalty as Herrera fouled Aboubakar Kamara. Kamara calmly converted it into a goal. From the replay, the challenge by Herrera was clean. Because of the referees decision United lost another clean sheet here, and they are really struggling for it this season. United only has 2 clean sheets so far this season. But the dream of Fulham to get back was completely ended after Andre Zambo Anguissa got red with 2 booking and Fulham was reduced to 10 men. Marcus Rashford added the fourth in the 82nd minute for a comfortable 4-1 win for United.

With this win, Manchester United moved to the sixth with 26 points. It was the seventh win for United this season. Everton is at the 7th, and if they win against Watford this Monday, they can take Uniteds place. For Fulham, they are still at bottom of the table. Conceding the goals had been a major problem for Fulham. Fulham conceded 40 goals, 8 more than the second worse defense of Burnley.
