Last weekend Manchester City lifted the FA Community shield to begin the defense of their domestic quadruple. The defending premier league champions were undisputed in England winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield on top of the Premier League ofcourse to become the first team to win all the 4 in a single season.
They continued their run of domestic dominance when they beat Liverpool on penalties. Liverpool had respected them earlier in the game leading to a goal from Raheem Sterling, Manchester City forward. In the 2nd half Liverpool overturned their poor performance and dominated the game until they got a goal from substitute Joel Matip with 10 minutes to go.
The game went straight to penalties where all players scored their spot kicks except for Liverpool player Georginio Wijnaldum whose penalty was saved by Claudio Bravo.
This season it looks to remain a 2 horse race involving Liverpool and Manchester City but on paper, Manchester City edges Liverpool.
