Player Profile: Dinesh Mongia

in #sportstalk5 years ago

Every good thing must come to an end. That saying has proven to be true in almost every situation that we face in life. It is also true when it comes to the world of cricket. Someday, every cricket player would have to hand up their boots and bid farewell to the sport which has been their life for probably more than 10 years. The age of retirement is where Dinesh currently is and he has decided to hang up his boots after a great career. You might be wondering who Dinesh Mongia is and what should I know about him. Let’s figure out some of the basic things.

Who is Dinesh Mongia?

Born on the 1st of April, 1997, he is surely not a small person in the game. At the ripe age of 42, he is finally saying goodbye to the game and for good reasons. Having played for both his club and country, he might reason that he has achieved all that he can in the competition. His role in the team for his country (he is Indian by the way). Well, first, he was one player who was available for limited over international for his national side.

During his club career, he played for several teams which saw go to India, England, and many other places. Way back in 2004, he signed for Lancashire. This opened up for him due to the injury which struck Stuart during this period. However, he would surely have been thrilled.

However, his time in that club was very much short-lived and by the next season, he was once again on the move to another club. This time, he signed a deal with Leicestershire which would see him play for the club. When he played in the Indian premier league, he was a member of the Chandigarh Lions. However, sadly, that club has faded away

The very first the world saw Mongia play for his country was in 2001 when he was opportune to take to the field in his first ODI match in his career. However, that match would not turn out to be a highlight for him. However, by the fifth game for India, things started to look so much better. He even managed to score a half-century which I'm sure would stay in his mind for a very long to come.

Some regrets which he would surely have might be the number which he manages to get. He had only one during his career and could not add more. However, he made a lot of appearances for his country. That should help him to forget.

Conclusion

Retirement for many would be a time to look at the work you have done and be satisfied. As Dinesh announced his retirement plan this week, it was clear that cricket had lost a wonderful player. Good thing must come to an end. However, Dinesh would be hoping that the good things open up to him in yet another part of his life.
