Last week’s premier league matchday has been completed and we are now heading to the international break. What a boring 2 weeks it is going to be without watching club football. Anyways, there are lots of exciting international fixtures coming up and we hope for an amazing international weeks.

The just completed matchday 8 of the premier league saw the two Manchester clubs got beaten in their respective fixtures. Manchester City who were in good form prior to the Wolves match lost 0-2 at home against Wolves. While this result isn’t much of a surprise as we all know what Wolves are capable of when it comes to playing against the big 6 teams, like we saw last season. However, beating an in-form Manchester City side who are aiming to close the gap between them and Liverpool, was an unexpected one and not many saw that coming.

It was really a difficult game for Manchester City as expected. Manchester City at home were obviously the favorites to do the job against Wolves who entered into the game with only one win to their name this season. However, Wolves made life really difficult for Manchester City throughout the game with their superb defensive masterpiece like many see it. All through the game, Wolves didn’t really look like they panicked at all, as they dealt with City’s threats very well and were able to give themselves the opportunity to effectively execute their lethal counter-attack. This crucial win for Wolves makes it back to back league wins for Wolves, while Manchester City gets their second loss this season, the first one coming against the newly promoted Norwich City. A fabulous result for Wolves but the exact opposite for Manchester City who now find themselves 8 points behind unbeaten Liverpool.

In this match, we saw both teams set up in their preferred formations. Wolves in their preferred 3-5-2 setup while Manchester City in their normal 4-3-3 formation. Manchester City actually started the game pretty well and looked like a team that would go on to finally get the win. As usual, they had a good number of shots in the game, however, Wolves dealt with those chances and prevented Manchester City from creating any real goal scoring chance, all thanks to their defensive abilities and the way they were able to stay very disciplined and compact at the back.

On the other hand, Wolves grew stronger in the game as they were dealing with Manchester City’s threats very well and were able to find the perfect counter-attacking opportunities to score twice. Their two goals came from devastating counter-attacks which isn’t alien as they are actually one of the best in the league when it comes to defending and counter-attacking on their day.

Two goals from Adama Traore were enough to sink Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium.
