Some statistics on Rugby Union
Rugby Union is one of my personal favorite sports. Although it does not feature in the Top 10 Most played sports in the world, it still have a large supporter base, and a lot of players.

I am sure there are many more non-registered rugby players in the world, but according to the stats that are available there are 4,504,188 registered rugby players across the globe, from 98 different countries. I would never have thought that there are so many rugby playing countries around the world if we take into account that there is only 20 countries represented in the world cup.
Top 10 Countries with most registered players
England has by far the most registered rugby union players in the world with nearly 2 Million registered players. South Africa is second, with 660 000 plus players and in the third place we have France with around 300 000. Here is a list of the Top 10 followed by 11- 20.

One of the things that caught my attention is that Australia, who have won the world cup a few times only have the 10th most registered players in the world. A very interesting fact is also that India has more than 22 000 registered rugby players. Maybe they will form part of the top nations in the world and be represented at the world cup soon.
Another interesting fact is that Georgia, who have been moving up the ranks over the past few years, and has been represented in the last few World Cups, are only number 51 on the list of countries with most registered users, which makes it an amazing feat to qualify for the world cup. Georgia only has 4181 registered rugby players.

The Rugby World Cup which is held every four years are the pinnacle of the game of rugby. The next Rugby World Cup will be in Japan in 2019.

Great to hear
I enjoy watching and playing rugby, I played in high school and it's great fun, it's one of the best team sports, it gets the adrenaline pumping. I liked watching the Lions play the All blacks and I can't believe it was a draw. I tipped the draw at 50 to 1 and it got up :D
Watching quality rugby Union is really thrilling and preferable to Rugby League, as the flow of the game is much more entertaining and tactics used to gain field position advantage. Just the dynamics and strategies behind the game is what excites me.

I agree with your views, but also believe that League, Sevens and Union should really be treated as three sports in their own right ... although there are major similarities, and often players can easily move between the codes. Have you watched Celtic Rugby .... also an interesting game

i want to play Rugby really i like it but in my city we don't have any ground of the Rugby. i like Rugby and i want to play and your top 10 player of Rugby is nice info thanks fro informing us
Great to hear. A great way to start playing is street games or pick up games of touch rugby. Teaches you basic skills and is a very vast passed way of playing.
I can't wait for the next Rugby World Cup. Good luck to all the nations who will compete :) I know New Zealand is the favorite but we can always hope :) Go Springboks :)

They have a great 7's team, and many players, but their formal rugby structures and facilities is not that well developed. They however are in the running to make the next rugby world cup.
