Houston Rockets sign DeMarcus Cousins. WTH?

The Rockets have been a relatively persistent team as far as talent is concerned but have been plagued as of late by an aging, borderline "has been" roster for the ages. There are a lot of concerns about this in Houston management and because of this some of their younger, hungrier players such as James Harden have requested trades to other teams - which I feel for the sake of money the Rockets will probably be willing to accommodate.

So the fact that one of the major concerns is that your team is old what do you think would be an intelligent thing to do as a team manager? Do you

A) Look for some youthful talent to sign to your team with your new huge amounts of money after releasing Harden?

B) Find an injury-prone 30 year old who was fantastic in his prime but has underperformed for years?

Option B is obviously a stupid choice yet that is precisely what the Rockets just did

I want to believe that the top brass know what they are doing and they did acquire Cousins for almost no money. Actually, there is no guaranteed contract and I would be willing to bet that there are injury provisions built in once a contract is actually signed.

Few people even know that Cousins was actually on the roster for the Lakers this past season because he didn't play due to tearing his ACL. They released him before the covid-dome had even been used in Florida.

I don't know if the man has even been training but I would imagine we are about to find out if he is still capable of playing the game.

He is a 4-time all star and I am not attempting to diminish his past but it just blows my mind that the Rockets would even bother with this one, even if he ends up riding the bench. He's torn his Achilles, he's torn his quad, and much worse than that he recently tore his ACL. I don't know if you are aware of how important one's anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is in relation to sports but it is something that almost everyone never fully recovers from.

He was a beast with Golden State for the one year that he played with them and scored a season high 28 points and 13 rebounds in April vs. the Denver Nuggets which as far as the scoring is concerned is quite rare for a center. Less than 2 weeks later he would tear his quad and barely made any appearance in the playoffs as a result.

This man is extremely injury prone and it makes very little sense to me that the Rockets, who at the moment are really struggling to remain viable for future playoffs as we are starting to see a shift in the "usual suspects" and this choice on their management's part just doesn't make any sense to me at all.
